2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just want to say that the forum is dead and it saddens me. I hope that it's goiing to be rocking once the season starts.

Lebron fans where art thou?
Basically nothing until camp, man.

Summer League, we were still rocking.

He was still high on a historic title, especially after realizing what a special teammate he had in Kyrie. He, like everybody else, probably FIGURED that the Warriors with Durant would be a tall task, but didn't KNOW it, yet.

If LeBron had wanted to go to to the Lakers then there obviously would have been conversations occurring behind-the-scenes and they wouldn't have signed Deng and Mozgov. Even if LeBron had made it known that he'd keep an eye to the future with the Lakers in mind, they wouldn't have signed them.

I truly don't believe LeBron started seriously considering the Lakers until we lost Kyrie. The '17 loss stung, but I think he was confident enough in Kyrie and supporting cast that he didn't feel they couldn't return and gave it another go with a few adjustments (which should have occurred after '16, only we got fat and happy and made a ton of wrong moves.) He even famously told Kyrie "we'll be back" following the '17 loss...I don't think he would have uttered those words if his mind was preoccupied with LA.

Griffin saying that LeBron was gone after the '16 title is just him trying to compensate for the lousy job he did that summer. We didn't sign a backup PG and thought broken-ass Dunleavy (later, Korver) was the answer to GS adding a top-2 player in the league. Truthfully, there is no legit counter to that but adding a couple defensive-minded players a la Houston while you still had the '16 title core in place was the way to go about it. Griff horribly bungled it.
To be fair there were plenty of heavy hitters on this board that were in denial of how huge the Durant move was. @gourimoko
There was even several months of people claiming GS were actually going to be worse because they lost players like Barnes and Bogut and players 10 through 12 in the rotation.
The reality was there needed to be creative bold moves made just to give us a punchers chance. Instead we signed JR Smith to an extension and brought back the same team, that needed several breaks to beat a team minus Durant.

Still think the NBA is partly to blame for the unprecedented spike in salary cap. Bottom line I am not going to be spending my time and energy watching Boston and Golden State the next few Junes. Call it bitterness, or whatever you want. I am not wasting a second on the finals for a while.

I don't trust Zizic's offseason work ethic.

This guy should be supervised and train with professional trainers in the USA during the off-season. Right now it seems to me like he enjoys the off-season a bit too much. Spends his time on the beach and his ridiculous tan gives it away.

This fucker needs to work for crying out loud and I don't see any added clean muscle mass on his frame.

Don't let him leave the US(in a pleasant way) next season and surround him with trainers and cooks.

I was one of the people who didn't think the Durant move was all that great. I was in denial and wrong.

But other people need to be honest, too. There were ZERO "bold moves" that we could have made to counter the addition of Durant to the 73 win team. None.

I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. The people who think we could have done much to counter that move are wrong as well.

However...who cares?! I'm glad we won a championship. We were VERY lucky to get even 1. I'm grateful.

I have to agree. What moves were there to add someone like Durant to add to LeBron. Love Kyrie

There were a few moves that Cavs could've made that would've changed the dynamic; yet, they decided against them for various reasons. This thread definitely isn't the place to discuss them, but, I've detailed these moves ad infinitum in other threads months ago. Going back to the championship run to last offseason, there were options for the Cavs.

Simply put, we are not where we are because of lack of available options, but because this is exactly where we wanted to be...

Yeah we could have done what Houston did and sign some lengthy wings, just say we need more than you JR, and get him to sign a 1 year deal.

Hearing the Wine and Gold podcast yesterday where they were talking about how the team basically never practiced for real, just made me realize that what I have thought for awhile is true. You cannot turn it on against GS. You have to practice and use every game to get better to have a chance against that team. Houston did that the Cavs did not. No siurprise Hood and the others didn't seem to know what they were doing. The team never gelled.

And yet Lue is still here

I can believe it is all Lebron. I mean supposedly Blatt was fired because he didn't work as hard as Lue, but did that include practice? I know they aren't firing Lue now, so I just have my fingers crossed that he is a guard whisperer and is going to install a good offense and get them to play d. His offensive sets have been good, but we will see if he can do it on a normal team.

Not sure if this is the thread for this but... Can we do that petition thing again that we did for the Sherwin-Williams flag banner that was meant to replace LeBron during the RNC?

This is amateur level horseshit out of the Cavs:

How many times do they have to learn this lesson - gauge public opinion BEFORE making a decision... Didn't they learn their lesson after the skyline floor debacle?

Guarantee you there are 5-10 people on this forum who could mock up a better design in 20 minutes.

There is a very good chance that Toronto may better or equal to Boston. Its still going to be very difficult for them to make the finals, because just as they were about to breathe a sigh of relief for LeBron leaving, Toronto gets kawhi.

I saw they brought in Brandon Paul for a workout. He was tremendous for us for a few games in last years summer league. I thought he was an NBA player from seeing that.

Out of the dude's they brought in for a workout, I'd be ok with either him or Jakarr Sampson. I actually like Paul's skill set a bit better in terms of the ability to score. Comes down to whether they want a two guard or a small forward.
