2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We need a FB. Who's the ones to start watching?

A few defensive players I'm keeping an eye on:

Josh Allen, OLB, Kentucky. Physically a prototype for outside linebacker, has a former NFL position coach on Chuck Pagano's staff coaching him up on technique. Could replace Collins as a first round pick.

Isaiah Clemmons, SS/LB, Clemson. He is 6'3 and 230ish, moves very well at that size. I like his potential moving to linebacker with plus ball and coverage skills like Fred Warner did for the Niners.

Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson. Was dominant as a freshman in 2016 but didn't put up eye popping numbers last season. He tips the scales at 350 but moves well at that size. He could take the Coley spot and overpower single blockers.

Watched him play this past week. Dude flies around and always seemed to be near the play. Instincts seemed to be really good. Thought the announcers said he was like 240, looked skinnier, but could easily see him add 15+ lbs at the NFL level and not lose his quickness

My main needs for next draft is DT, WR, LB and OT. Those would be my top 4 picks in the first 3 rds. Hell at this point I might draft a kicker in rd 4.…..LOL

COUPLE MOCKS:

CBS:

15. Cleveland Browns
Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama.

What do you get one of the league's most exciting young teams with first round picks at nearly every defensive position? Another first-rounder, this time at safety where Thompson joins 2017 first-round safety Jabrill Peppers. Greg Williams already has this unit playing like their possessed :chuckle: and that'll only intensify with Thompson roaming the secondary.

DRAFT WIRE (2-rounder):

16. Cleveland Browns
Dexter Lawrence | DL | Clemson

48. Cleveland Browns
T.J. Edwards | LB | Wisconsin

Fuck yea, mocks AND winning football? I can get used to this.

How would you guys rank our needs, by priority? Im guessing an interior D linenan is near the top, followed by a game breaking WR?

I'd prefer a tall, sure handed WR to grow with Mayfield personally. If we hit on one, the contract extension should be due right after Landry expires.

D-line depth is need also though.

And the best Kicker in the class.

We're really lacking a big, dominant receiver that can command double teams, and I'm beginning to warm to picking a guy who can grow next to Baker, like AJ with Andy Dalton. How does Collin Johnson look to anyone who has seen him a lot?

Do we really need another safety if Randall and Peppers continue to play like they have been?

Needs IMO: DT, DE, WR, CB, OL. No particular order.

Same. Prob not a bad idea to take a mid-late round developmental QB either. Tyrod is gone and Drew is Drew. Would also like to see a LB taken so we can upgrade from Burgess/have a replacement when Collins is gone.

For me in order...

DT - Ogunjobi is thriving, but another dynamic starter at 3T to pair with him would be ideal.
WR - Landry is an average WR1, but would be a great WR2. Higgins is a good WR3. Callaway and Willies can both keep developing into possible starters down the road.
OLB - Jamie Collins is set to have a cap hit of 11.75M next year and simply doesn't have the production to warrant it. The Browns can get out of the last 25.5M he's owed for just 2.5M in dead money.
CB - Ward is awesome. Carrie has been a disappointment. Boddy-Calhoun is in the doghouse and probably won't return. Gaines has been good, but is only on a 1-year deal. More depth is needed and potentially another starter opposite Ward if Mitchell can't return to form and Gaines leaves in free agency.
OT - Harrison and Hubbard have both been solid at times, not very good at other times. I'd bring in competition or an outright replacement for either one.

I feel good about QB, RB, TE, OG, OC, DE, MLB, SS and FS. Some of those spots could use depth, but at the very least they have solid/good starters at those spots.

DT/WR/CB/LB

As the NFL moves forward, I think teams would be smart to draft at least 1WR and 1CB each draft. They are too important with modern offensives shifting heavily to the pass.

I will say that I hope that if/when we go DT, we don't pick one of those large, slow, run stuffing big men. That archetype of player is just being phased out in today's NFL, and I'd rather we get a smaller DT that excels in interior pass rush if if given the choice between the two types.

How teams do in today's NFL is all tied to the pass game, both passing and defending the pass. If that means we'll be gashed now and then by the run, then that's a small price to pay.

Edit: the fact that we traded away Danny Shelton makes me think that Dorsey and co agree with it.
