2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
DT and WR are the biggest glaring needs on the team right now.

It’s Ogunjobi, Landry and a bunch of guys at both spots.

Harrison has 15 more games to prove that LT is not going to be a long term need.

Dorsey’s had problems managing the cap in KC in the past, but the Browns do have, in theory, a few younger guys (Mayfield, Chubb and Corbett) who should replace more expensive veterans (Taylor, Hyde and either Zeitler/Tretter) in front of them by the beginning of next year which is a good start.

The Browns will need to be very aggressive in free agency and trades the next 2-3 years while Baker is still making peanuts relatively to the rest of the quarterbacks in the league.

FYI, I saw this weekend the Browns will have, roughly, 82 million in cap space this coming offseason.

That will almost certainly go up too as they likely move on from Zeitler and Collins.

Wondering if anyone who follows the MAC closely would like to break down linebacker Ulysees Gilbert of Akron. His stats from last year are impressive.

Does anyone have a breakdown on LB Dakota Allen out of Texas Tech? I stumbled over him while watching "Last Chance U" and apparently he's actually really good?

Any guy who puts up those type of numbers is bound to pop up on some prospect lists.

His off-season, much like Jatavis Brown a few seasons ago, will tell the tale.

Here is the tape I watched of him: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuPcMnGDj1s

Finds himself over-pursuing quite a bit, but he definitely looks like a guy who can move around at the speed you'd like to see from a WLB.

Mock Draft Monday:

1 - Dre'Mont Jones - DT - Ohio State - Came back and really showed the improvement you'd like to see for someone attempting to improve draft stock. Racking up TFLs and making plays in the backfield. Pairing another versatile lineman with Garrett and Ogunjobi gives the Browns the best young defensive line in the league.

Other Considerations: Ed Oliver (likely gone), DK Metcalf, Jonah Williams, Greg Little, Jeffrey Simmons

2 - Kelvin Harmon - WR - NC State - In a deep year for wide receivers, Harmon has superior talent and polish. Runs great routes, has great hands and can make plays at every level. This offense is one more weapon away from being elite, IMO. Harmon is the type who exudes professional WR and can develop into a #1 in time and under the eye of guys like Jarvis Landry.

Risers/Other Considerations: Lavonte Taylor (CB, FSU), Jaquon Johnson (S, Miami), Amani Oruwariye (CB, PSU), Zach Allen (DE, BC), Byron Murphy (CB, Wash)

3 - David Edwards - OT - Wisconsin - True RT that would look to establish himself as the future at the position. Hubbard has not been impressive, and this position desperately needs depth to be where they need to be.

3 (from NE) - Trayvon Mullen - CB - Clemson - Love his instincts and athleticism, makes plays on the ball and has great timing and hand usage.

4 - KaVontae Turpin - WR/RB - TCU - This is one of the most intriguing guys in the draft. We see guys like Tyreek Hill and Jakeem Grant become gadget players that innovative coaches can use for big plays. Turpin is a flat out WEAPON in four facets (rushing, receiving, KR, PR). Get him into the offense for 5-10 per game. Perfect compliment for a Mayfield offense that can exploit misdirection.

5 - Devin Bush - LB - Michigan - Very undersized and it will cost him in the pre-draft process. Not quite 6-foot, not quite 230. But the dude is lightning and makes a ton of plays.

6 - Clayton Thorson - QB - Northwestern - Tore his ACL late last year and hasn't quite been himself. When he's healthy he's a smart player with good athleticism you could develop behind Mayfield.

How are the top end CBs in this draft? They're turning into the new NFL version of NBA wings, you can't have enough of them. Watching Carrie and Gaines get targeted time and time again while Ward was ignored shows our need for a second elite one. Also, our WRs and CBs are mostly all small, I'd like a bigger option on both so we can mix and match depending on who we're playing against.

I know Deandre Baker is getting a fair bit of hype along with Greedy Williams. Greedy is definitely the bigger guy, standing at about 6'3'' compared to Baker who is around 6 feet flat, and he's probably also the more explosive athlete. From what I've gathered Baker has the better instincts and is better at sniffing out plays than Greedy who relies a bit more on his physical gifts, but they're supposedly both at that lockdown corner level potential that people seem to be so infatuated with these days. The question is whether either guy will be available to us on draft night.
