2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who is everyone's favorite prospect in the draft? Mine is Quinnen Williams, just think he is going to be a beast.

Besides the obvious Bosa..

Josh Allen - think he will have an instant impact on whoever drafts him. Wish we somehow had an early 1st rounder somehow to nab him up. Can do everything. Just absolute f'n man missile.

Deandre Baker - For being undersized (5'11") he can sure as hell cover pretty damn well. Hasn't given up a TD since 2016 in his coverage. There are multiple CB's that are/can be studs but he sticks out to me.

Christian Wilkins - Not only is he a great player, but he is just an overall great guy. Got his degree in 2 1/2 years and graduated w/his masters while being a stud on the field. Does a ton of work in the community and won the William V Campbell trophy.

It's just nice to root for a guy like that.

Wilkins is so great, amazing character guy and a wonderful player in his own right. Back when we still had the 17th pick I was extremely ready to put a Browns jersey on him for sure.

My favourite prospect though, has to Brian Burns. It may sound like hyperbole but I really do think he has the potential to be the best EDGE rusher in the class ahead of both Bosa and Allen. He's just so fucking fast and technical and intelligent, and seeing him retain his explosiveness with the added weight makes me really hopeful for him going forward. He's also got the length and range required to even drop back in coverage, so he's not simply a Pass Rush specialist.

I honestly think he's gonna be the stand out guy in this class along with Quinnen Williams.

In the NFL, the offensive line is going to get their hands on you. If you are that fast, they are going to chip you as well. Garrett needed a few games to adjust with his hand placement and ability to break off lineman grips. That I think is a strength of both Bosa brothers on the edge: they thrive initiating contact then breaking it off.

I really like Ed Oliver. I am also super high on T.J Hockenson.

DK Metcalf certainly will be fun to follow from his combine hype alone, not that I think he will live up to it.

I think Kyler Murray will be a bust.

I think that's fair, but I don't think it overshadows what Burns is good at, and it's not like he's soft. His frame is more slender and lithe, but he uses it extremely well and his hand technique is very nuanced, and again, listen to the kid talk about pass rushing technique and how cerebral he gets with it. I don't think he's gonna have any issue getting to the QB at all, not compared to any other rookies in this class.

Burns is polarizing for sure.

I have him as a worse version of Dion Jordan and Dante Fowler, slightly ahead of Barkevious Mingo. None of those players fared well in the NFL.

I get where the Jordan comp is coming from, but at the same time Jordan was a 4 year player at Oregon compared to Burns who only played 3 seasons. Jordan came into the league at 23 years old compared to Burns at 20. Despite all that and despite playing in a tougher conference Burns has still had better production than Jordan had. The Fowler comp matches production wise, but Fowler isn't nearly as agile as Burns from my perspective, and that's not even getting into the gap in technical ability.

I just see them as these lanky, fast guys. You're buying based on speed and athletic ability. I just don't think they're good enough football players.

I would agree with that if Burns wasn't as technically developed as he is as a pass rusher. Like, he's not just a hybrid because he's a little lighter than most EDGE defenders (he did weigh in at over 250 at his Pro Day and looked just as explosive as usual for what it's worth), he's a legitimately smart and sophisticated pass rusher who knows how to use his length and range to get past defenders, it's not just pure speed.

I hope he does well. I'm just not gambling on him in the top 10. Maybe that's why I'm not running an NFL franchise :conf (11):
