2019 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I get to a certain extent.

I pull for Edelman for example because I saw him at Kent, and Drew Brees because i'm a Purdue fan and love the guy.

I've just seen OSU fans cheer for Steeler players and then just claim no allegiance to the Browns, etc. It's kinda lame.
Well there are definitely some fans that just don't care about any NFL team.

Is there better footage of Josh Allen somewhere other than YouTube highlights in which he’s getting sacks unblocked half the time?

He does seem to have a real nice burst off the edge; I’ll say much but I’d like to learn more about him — more specifically if he can go sideline to sideline and move well laterally

There’s a lot of OSU fans on the east side of Ohio who root for the Steelers. They bandwagon fans... idk what else to tell you.

Mock Draft Monday:

HC - Bruce Arians
OC - Freddie Kitchens
DC - Todd Bowles

Off-Season Additions
OT: Trent Williams for a 3rd round pick (Option B: Trent Brown to a massive deal)

WR: Sign WR Adam Humphries 4yr/$30M (Option B: Sign Quincy Enunwa to a similar deal)

Sign DT Bennie Logan or Malcom Brown

Sign LB Gerald Hodges

Off-Season Subtractions:
Greg Robinson
Chris Hubbard
JC Tretter (if they feel Corbett is the answer)
Jaime Collins
TJ Carrie
EJ Gaines

Draft:

1 - Cody Ford - OT - Oklahoma - Changing the game for this team, they need to establish two sturdy, long-term starters. Ford is elite on the right side, with great feet and massive size/strength combo. 6'4, 330+ reminds me of Jason Peters. Pair him with Trent Williams or Trent Brown and you have your set of tackles for the extended future.

2 - Dre'Mont Jones - DT - Ohio State - Still questions about his ability against the run, but he seems like such a perfect fit for the defense alongside what is currently constructed. Elite athlete with a variety of pass rush moves and quickness.

3 - Devin Bush - LB - Michigan - Small in stature but an elite athlete who would bring much needed speed to the linebacker unit.

3 (if not dealt) - Kristian Fulton - CB - LSU - Best secondary in the nation, but he's the forgotten guy. Good length, will compete for a starting spot soon.

4 - Emmanuel Hall - WR - Missouri - Good get off and seems to have really good feel and timing within a spread offense. Can develop into a legitimate 1,000 yard guy.

5 - Nasir Adderly - CB - Delaware - Small school guy plays with some serious nastiness. Checks off a ton of boxes athletically.

5 - Clayton Thorson - QB - Northwestern - This is my guy for 2019, he's the ideal developmental QB behind Baker.

5 - Lamical Perine - RB - Florida - Lost in the shuffle, but he's always impressed me with his one-cut burst and low center of gravity. They'll need a backup to Chubb who can earn some carries.

6 - Carter Coughlin - DE - Minnesota - Gave OSU fits in their matchup earlier this year. Really talented and smart player, developmental guy who could also help on special teams

Not bad... I don’t see Hall lasting until round 4, but it is a wr class with some depth as long as you are not expecting a number one ( well Metcalf is the huge exception depending on health)

Lots to like here. I'm with you on the coaches and a trade for Trent Williams. I am less than enthused by Trent Brown because I saw him struggle as a Niner. I get it that he has put in a career year, but I don't know if he finally just took care of himself for a big contract. While tackles are incredibly important for the franchise, I'm not sold on a right tackle in the first round who doesn't have left tackle upside down the line.

I assume you also see Taylor gone and Stanton retained as the mentor in the room?

Works for me, I don't need either of them retained to be honest.

I don't necessarily need either of them at this point. Having Tyrod around would be cool, but he's entitled to go find a spot where he has a chance to see the field.

Someone once asked Colts OC Tom Moore why he didnt spend more time giving reps to the backup QB. Moore told him "because 18 is our QB and if he goes down, we're fucked...and we don't practice fucked."

I'm cool to ride with Mayfield and Thorson, because if 6 goes down its likely that we're fucked.

Cody Ford Profile

This is really a year where they absolutely, 100 percent must invest in the tackles to protect Mayfield.

They've gotten good performance as a unit over the last few weeks, but last week showed that teams with a good pass rush such as Denver could feast on guys like Hubbard and Robinson.

Adding Cody Ford and a left tackle like Williams or Brown would solidify the entire line.

I like the coach choices, like the draft, but are you assuming we don't resign Perriman?

Humphries doesn't do it for me, I do like Enunwa, but not sure if enough to pay him that much over retaining Perriman.

Landry, Calloway, Higgins, Perriman, Rookie, Ratley?

I guess Enunwa gives us another big Receiver, But I really think Calloway is coming along after being out of football for a full year, and Perriman is worth resigning who is also coming along.

8 mill a year for a receiver as I see as only 3rd or 4th best on the list above doesn't excite me. Getting a top talent receiver like Ju Ju or Hopkins who I think would be perfect is near impossible outside of the draft.

Perriman has been a pleasant surprise, but let's keep him in perspective. He only gets a few targets per game, and they are usually deep routes meant to stretch out coverage. Unlike his previous work with Joey Flacco, he has held onto more balls, but that sounds like a taller Tyler Gabriel role.

Calloway is emerging and I'm not complaining. With Baker's skillset, adding a receiver in the mid rounds until somebody emerges as a true #1 receiver is fine with me. That's pretty much how the Packers handled the position before finally spending a first on Devonte Adams.

One trend I keep seeing in mock drafts is Browns nabbing a defensive tackle because they struggle against the run. Yet, in every mock I see players ego can be very good in that role through the first three rounds. That is the deepest talent pool of 2019.

I haven't looked at the draft and AZ has his mock taking a very quick DT in the 2nd, so I can see waiting to take one not in the first.

Honestly I rather get a stud LB or CB more than another receiver if we keep Perriman. I get he is a stretch WR, but Higgins is turning it on, Calloway is, and we know what Landry can do if we move him to the slot a bit more. Ratlif has some potential, but we are talking at that point as a 5th WR. With Djuku emerging, I would almost rather find another TE as Devalve isn't working, and split David out wide at WR from time to time and let a corner deal with his over sized ass.

I just think our WR core while young is emerging and baker is killing it with our current core, get them a year older and fully healthy and I only want free agent receivers who don't have to spend a year or two developing. Improve this defense, and it improves our offense.

Humphries makes no sense, the Browns don't need another slot WR. I like it otherwise.

Lee I think you’re vastly overrating our receiving core. It’s easily one of our worst units
