Freeman will be a 2B at the MLB level.
Interesting. Do you project Rocchio having a good enough glove to play SS if he reaches the majors?
Freeman will be a 2B at the MLB level.
They're going to keep him at SS until someone else moves him, though.
Long-term, I agree.
Also watch for Angel Martinez in the DSL. Really impressive this spring in AZ.
If he grows like his brother did, he could be "big big time" as well. Good bloodlines and already an advanced hitter.
Haven't heard anything about Jones or Gonzalez heading to Akron. Lynchburg will have a loaded lineup if those two are staying put for the time being.
Not sure how I missed it, but last year's 4th round pick, Adam Scott was moved up to Akron. He got shelled today, but he's a 6'4" lefty with swing and miss stuff. 125 K in 97 IP since being drafted.
Where do you see his potential at? I saw his name mentioned in an off season one as a possible sleeper guy, but from scouting reports I see more of a reliever than a starter.
He's a starter all the way. At least as much as any prospect can be. I can see why you'd think reliever since he wasn't starting games last year, but he was coming off a full college season. They were still pitching him multiple innings, and giving him 5 days rest between outings.
I figured as much last season with him being drafted, I haven't gotten to watch a ton on him yet so I was just going by what scouting reports I could find online (which was very few honestly) and they stated could be a starter, but better chance as a reliever. Do you know anywhere that has a full scouting report on him, not just like a baseball writer's opinion on him?
2018 Draft Scouting Report
Scott figures to be a solid top-10 round senior sign thanks to a very loud spring with Wofford during his fourth year in the Southern Conference. After striking out 108 batters in 2017 with a 10.4 K/9, Scott has gone to another level this spring with 137 strikeouts in 103 innings of work--good for an 11.9 K/9. A big, 6-foot-4, 220-pound lefthander, Scott throws a fastball that averages around 90 mph, in the 88-92 mph range. His secondaries are solid though none of the pitches project as above-average. His loudest game of the season came on April 27 vs. UNC-Greensboro when Scott went nine innings and struck out 17 batters on 124 pitches.
This is the Baseball America write-up from last year's draft:
He's really flown through the system so far, showing swing and miss stuff along with good control numbers (which was a problem prior to his senior year at Wofford)
