2019 Mock Drafts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just got done playing around with the mock draft tool. Here's what happened:

17. TJ Hockenson, TE, Iowa- It was between him, Devin White, or Byron Murphy. I would be pleased with any of those guys, but I opted to give Baker another weapon. Boobie, nice job hyping him up.

49. Dexter Lawrence, IDL, Clemson- At 6'4", 340 lbs, he plugs right into the starting Nose Tackle position. Passed on Yodny Cajuste OT and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson S to snatch him up here.

80. Bobby Evans, OT, Oklahoma- I took the best offensive lineman I could find here. I like the fact he has already blocked for Baker. Will be good competition for Greg Robinson in camp. Passed on Taylor Rapp S and Andy Isabella WR here.

97. Daylon Mack, IDL, Texas A&M- Got a little repetitive here, but he seemed like the best prospect available; a twitchy- 320 lbs- NT. Yes, more of that please. He's lightning fast to the backfield.

116. Michael Jackson, CB, Miami- Seemed like a safe choice at this point, a 6'1", 200 lbs, cornerback with good hands. Plays with swagger, will fit right into our defense.

138. Jalen Jelks, EDGE, Oregon- Long, speedy, and a good tackler. Glad I was able to snag him here. Will need to get stronger to shed NFL blocks, but he is great at wrapping guys up, and he's never out of a play with his speed.

149. Tyree St. Louis, OT, Miami- Looks the part at 6'5", 305 lbs. If nothing else, he's good depth this late in the draft. Quick feet, good head on his shoulders.

164. Parris Campbell, WR, OSU- First homer pick, but he's one of the fastest WR's in the entire class and I'm interested to see how he would look paired with Baker. He sat near the top of the draft board for three consecutive picks, so I finally pulled the trigger.

181. Lil' Jordan Humphrey, WR, Texas- Lil' Jordan ain't so little at 6'4", 220 lbs. He was Texas's leading receiver last season, and seemed like a worthwhile shot in the dark this late. Former running back, with a killer spin move. Will need to get better at creating separation at the next level.

205. Jordan Brailford, EDGE, Oklahoma St- I only chose him because he kind of looks like Myles Garrett and plays on the edge. Have him wear #59, and sub him in for Garrett once or twice a game, just enough to make the offense fear he's still out there and give Garrett a useful breather.

@Randolphkeys have you setup a date to start the RCF Mock draft? Part of me is eager to get setup for a team or two already and start looking at this years draft prospects! Combine is coming up so it's about time to at least get the signups started!

@Soda has been the point person for starting up the mock draft. I usually tag in as time keeper once we begin. It's like the pornstar mock draft, but with dudes.

It's about time we at least figure out who wants in and which teams.

I'll get this going very soon. We start the process a bit earlier & earlier every year. :chuckle: That's probably a good idea this year; with the Browns picking at 17, I expect the interest in the RCF Mock to be a bit slower than in recent years.

On a side note, I finally got around to The Draft Network's mock. I like it & did 5 rounds.
  • 17 - Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson

  • 49 - Yodny Cajuste, OT, West Virginia

  • 80 - Jerry Tillery, IDL, Notre Dame

  • 95 - Terry McLaurin, WR, Ohio State

  • 119 - Terry Godwin, WR, Georgia

  • 144 - Isaiah Johnson, CB, Houston

  • 155 - Evan Worthington, S, Colorado
  • 170 - Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame

The age old debate of starting early or waiting for FA—accuracy of the RCF mock versus shooting from the hip.

Key dates:

*Today is March 1st.

*Free agency starts March 13 at 4 PM.

*The draft is April 25-27.

I'm as antsy to participate in the mock as anyone, but we probably should wait the two weeks.

Did one of those Draft Network's mock drafts. Got, IMO, a hell of a haul.

  • 17. T.J. Hockenson: A beast. Big dude who blocks like a tackle and can get you very tough yards in the passing game. He's well rounded and allows the Browns to play 2 TE sets with a focus on mixing it up if they want.
  • 49 Zach Allen: I love Zach Allen. He can play inside or outside, plays with incredible power and good athletic ability. I think his ability to be scheme versatile really makes him ideal upfront. He could be the next JJ Watt. His play strength is freaky.
  • 80. Jerry Tillery: Doubling up early, but I think Jerry Tillery can become something special. With news of him being injured most of the year coming out, it really makes me respect his toughness. He has times on the football field where he is simply unblockable. He would nearly finish off the DT rotation.
  • 95. Antoine Wesley: I haven't watched a ton of Wesley, but from what I've seen, he's a dude who would be an awesome pickup here. He's probably a little more developmental than other prospects on the board *Mitchell, Johnson, Campbell* but his size and speed combo will make him a more intriguing guy.
  • 119. Khalil Hodge: Super productive LB at Buffalo. He's a gamble because I'm not sure he'll be an athlete, but he just has a knack for finding the ball. Reminds me a little of Schobert.
  • 144. Khalen Saunders: Now my DT rotation is filled out. Another athletic freak, Saunders is a good player from a small school. He's likely not going to be an every down player, but he can force the issue on Tillery to keep him honest.
  • 155. Oli Udoh: I believe my man crush on him here is well known. Mountain of a man, great movement skills. Getting him in the 5th round is a steal, and I believe he's the heir apparent to Robinson. Or they could make the transition to RT and move Hubbard to the bench.
  • 170. Justin Layne: My last pick of the draft/5th round, and I couldn't be happier. A productive player at MSU, he's got a huge frame and natural coverage skills. He probably won't be a burner, but I think he's got the ability to be a future outside corner if developed properly. It helps that he's from NE Ohio.

I like your draft so I am not meaning you in particular, but isn’t drafting a TE in the First Round, when you have sufficiency at the position, a poor use in terms of priority?

Certainly LB, WR and LT are areas that should receive precedence?

I think we can safely assume that TDN still haven't updated their predictions for the mock machine because I just got out of the first two rounds with Ed Oliver and Devin Bush Jr, which... I mean, I'll take that if it's there, whatever.

Only tight end I am interested in is Hockenson, he could be something special. Rare that he is probably the best receiving tight end in the draft and best blocking tight end in the draft.

The idea is to play lots of 2 TE sets or set one of them out wide to create size mismatches.

Edit, although Fant just ran a 4.50 40, wow

Yeah, this is Hockenson or forget about it. Njoku is very quietly a liability as a blocker and Darren Fells, whom I absolutely love, is 32 years old. If they don't go for Hockenson, the team will be fine for 2019... but the clock is ticking on Fells.

Hockenson would be a pick to improve the run game. I honestly feel if you put 50lbs on him he could be a pro bowl tackle.

I can’t find where I read it, but I remember Baker having an insanely high passer rating out of 2 te sets. If he can do that with Njoku and Fells/Charles/Devalve, imagine the damage Njoku and Hockenson

I feel the same way about Hockenson. You're adding a strong piece to both the receiving corps & the offensive line. That is a special skill-set if it's the real deal.
