I didn't focus on Wills when watching the Titans game, and to his credit Jed played at least well enough that I wasn't forced to focus on him. I just know his name wasn't getting called out as much as in the first 2 games so I'll call the Titans game a win for Jed.

How the heck did this turd get worse after leaving Alabama? Was he making more money in college or something?
He's gotten worse and more inconsistent every year.

Some guys just don't put in the work.

Oh well.

(I also had Wills as basically tied for the best tackle in the class with Andrew Thomas. Think i finished with Thomas 1A, Wills 1B... woof)

In the moment, Wirfs was probably the best tackle in the class and he certainly is looking back. However Wirfs was and still is a RT. Wills played RT but he was RT to a left handed QB, so he was the blind side. We needed a LT in that draft so we took Wills and I was completely on board with the thinking.

I'm not up to speed with today's thinking on tackles but traditionally LT is your premier pass blocker while RTs typically are better at run blocking. Wirfs is a stud RT, if he was a LT, would he still be a stud?

Well, he's a LT now and the answer through 3 games is yes. I don't really understand it too, guys like Joe Thomas will say Jed's technique is better than ever now but he's struggling with consistency. From my untrained OL watcher eyes it seems like he just lacks that mean streak and struggles to finish blocks. It's really too bad.

Wirfs transitioned to LT this year and has been great so far

1a/1b

didn’t fall into the big athletic trap of Becton or Wirfs, who will be Robert gallery 2.0
How is it possible to score a solid 9 on the Wonderlic? If you did the test with your eyes closed you should do better than that. Solid Browns type pick.
I'm not enough of a OL guru to know which of those OT's was the best, but it's an A for me just because we took a blue chip tackle.

Glad we didn't do the Williams deal.
So i took a stroll through the first few pages; some interesting takes on our guy here. Sad to see that he was so highly rated against the run yet is so crappy now. Looks like that Wonderlic was oddly predictive. Wierd how folks were so set on him over Wirfs. And what's that last line about a Trent Williams trade being passed up? Might go down as one of the biggest Berry fuckups if he could have gotten Trent for a 5th and a 3rd like the 9ers did, dude has been All Pro ever since. If the deal was the same, it was Nick Harris and Anthony Schwartz.

I didn't know Wirfs was over on the left side now. Thanks for the heads up. I guess we'll get an answer to my question soon!

One of the things that I constantly bring up that aggravates me so much with Wills is he is usually done with the play before anyone else on the browns

Seriously on most replays you’ll see Wills just standing around. Every other lineman we have is looking for someone, anyone, to hit, but Wills checks out of plays before the whistle pretty regularly

It’s the kind of stuff you see in high school football all the time but it doesnt really make it to the nfl often because like… professional athletes paid millions as their job

There is an end to a play and there is when Wills decides the play is over for him and those 2 are often not the same time. I’m a big time Wills skeptic. I don’t think he’s very good and when you throw lazy in addition to that it’s not a guy I’m overly interested in an extension with RIGHT NOW. That could obviously change, but he’s the weak link as long as glass man is out
this guy doesn’t miss it’s insane

Can’t believe how he’s progressively declined on a rookie contract.

I really didn’t think Wirfs would be successful outside, and thought he was a guard.

Wirfs played more LT than Wills did in college as well for whatever that's worth.

Wills is so damn lazy he couldn’t even play with effort until his second contract before dogging it

Great for the browns, terrible for him financially
