2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I posted my list the other day in a thread...

Though I think I gotta find someone to replace Myers, maybe Benson? I mean his physical tools, ceiling and his numbers at AAA can merit his climb back into our top 30 for now...

We will get a new list after the draft anyways, but there is a very high probability we have 45 FVs not in our top 30 after the draft and the evaluations from the 21 international class...
Thanks. Benson would be close to cracking top 10 for me, not top 30... probably around #12

I think that's a bit high since we have a solid farm and he still has a high bust, but putting him above a 40 FV is very understandable... via MLB.com Tolentino is our lowest 45 (at 24) and Burns is our lowest 50 (at 11). No one would have qualms if you put him between those two guys... I still have him at the 40 cause of the high bust potential, but if you feel his bust potential isn't as high, then he definitely is a 45...

Literally everyone outside of the top 3 has a high bust potential. Even guys like Arias, Jones, and even Valera. What Benson has shown recently is the ability to play at a MLB level albeit at a minimal sample starting around his 24th birthday. Arguably would have been a callup over Jones if he was on the 40 man.

Every prospect not named Wander or Acuna has bust potential, IMO.

Straw isn't going anywhere this season nor next season...
I understand why you will say that, but thuthfully there really only one untouchable position player and thats Jose, I could easily see Straw been move if it was for a bigger pieces and a block buster trade with multiple players involved…….

I been a Benson fan since we drafted him, I hope we get a chance to see him , even on a small sample, before any other teams ……..At worse he a 4th OF on most MLB teams…..

Cleveland isn't going to trade him after they just extended him... That would look really bad on our FO...

@Niklex316

C Victor Izturis was on of the top 50 prospects in the international signing and is related to two former MLB players... He is supposed to know the game well. He doesn't have a great average so far, but he seems to take walks and has a knack for RBI hits... (No HRs, but 18 RBIs in 20 games).

He is on my shortlist to keep an eye on. We don't have a ton of top catching talent, but he should be in the mix...

I was told the extension wasn't really an extension. So there wouldn't be anything to look bad about. Regardless, they just cut Myers who they traded for this offseason.

People are dug in on Straw, just like they are dug in on Benson. It's all about which players someone who wants to be an intelligent fan thinks that they are allowed to like.

Straw sucks.

It wasn't an extension price wise since the team has options on it... But if you offer and a guy signs an extension then you trade him after a short struggle, then you lose trust with the players...

I like how in consecutive posts you purport to know what the front office will do and now what all of the players think.

I purport to believe that trotting an offensive liability out every single day, blocking more talented players and putting more of a burden on everyone else in the lineup, is one other way to lose trust with the players.

Naw, contracts for sports players is an agreement that you have a general idea on where you will be living and working. To sign what Straw did, says he is committed to Cleveland and Cleveland is committed to him. So for 22/23 when his contract is 100% guaranteed CF is his with a long leash. If you decided as the Cleveland's FO to essentially back out now to that commitment, you will lose the goodwill of the other players and lower the likelihood of them signing a similar style of extension. Small market teams have to live by the type of extensions Straw made. If players will not sign them, it will make running a small market team way harder... Now, come mid 23 he is still hitting .200, his status as a starter will change, but for now, as long as he continues to play hard and be the best defensive CF in baseball, he will be starting normally...

I don't agree with this at all. He doesn't suck and he is arguably the best defensive CF in baseball.
