2022 Minor League Week 12 Games Thread (6/21-6/26/22)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Depending on which WAR you prefer, Kwan is a 3-4 WAR player over a full season. He currently ranks 5th among AL leftfielders in fWAR.

His numbers aren't driven by some outlandish and unsustainable stat, like BABIP. His contact rate is perfectly sustainable. His defense in left is outstanding, although not so much in center.

He isnt going anywhere.

He is fine in CF if he gets to play/knows the ball park. We just are spoiled in CF right now defensively... lol

So the guy who is likely going to get 2nd or 3rd place in the ROY and maybe wins a gold glove in LF, his spot as a starter is going to be taken from while given to a guy without a single MLB AB? Plus we also have Brennan who happens to be producing at the same level if not higher than Kwan did last season also in the mix.

Benson is having a great season and I want to find him a way onto the 40 man roster, but remember he doesn't have a great history of production in the minors. Honestly, he has never produced this way at any level before, so they will have to ask themselves can he improve or is it a fluke?

They have to make a big trade to get Benson a spot. LF is Kwan's spot until someone is able to take it from him and how likely is a guy whose career SO rate in the minors is over 30% going to take away our leadoff hitters spot and make him our 4th OF? Is Straw back to leadoff? If not then who leads off Benson?

Also is OGonz keeps playing so well, where does Valera fit into all of this? Also if you select Benson, how can you leave off Call, who actually has put up similar numbers... (less power, but better contact rate and way lower SO rate).
Benson actually has performed this way in the minors. He seems to be that kind of player that requires a second go around at each level to finally adjust.

That said, I don't have high hopes for his lack of contact translating to the MLB level.

Actually his numbers this season aren't his norm... His SO rate is like 7-8% lower than his career norms in the minors. His BB rate is also higher than his norm as well. I know he does better when he repeats, but most of his numbers are almost off his norm in a good way.

Benson's SwStr% is at 8.7% (Will Brennan is at 8.6%) this season. It was around 15% the past years. That's a significant improvement and gives me the most hope.

Considering the FO investment and strong belief in Will's character/work ethic, I doubt they're ready to let him go for nothing. They will either trade him at the deadline or roster him at some point.

The question is how does he fit going forward if we decide to keep him? He is still a high risk prospect going forward but I feel like he did make a huge leap this season...
