It seems to me that we have been doing a Lot of promoting this season, and we've already been pretty young everywhere.

Am I wrong about this?

Nope, they are getting younger and removing the older guys/pure organizational depth pieces to get the young guys ABs/innings...

Nope. You're spot-on.

We were the youngest team in baseball, by a huge margin, to start the year.

We're churning through the trash to see what we have in our prospects. We've promoted a ton.

We've moved on from Chang, Zimmer, Mercado, Bradley, Logan Allen, Reyes, and I'm sure I'm missing a boatload.

We've moved a fair amount of the older MiLB players over the course of the season...

Everybody hit for Columbus tonight.

Rocchio and Fry had three hits each.

Jones hit one out.

Arias played in the outfield.

Curry got bombed.

Meanwhile, because I mentioned how good Vargas has been lately, he had an absolutely shitty outing last night and Akron loses.

As I said, I went to the Clippers game in Buffalo last night. I didn’t stay for the entire game, as I wanted to get home to see the start of the Cleveland game. I’ll preface my observations by saying that “it was only one game”, so this was the smallest of small sample sizes. Also, if your only information is coming from a box score, you really miss a lot. That’s why seeing these guys in person can be so enlightening, even if only for one game.

The Clippers looked absolutely horrible for a good part of the game, especially early on. Curry fooled NOBODY and was extremely hittable. When he warmed up to start the game and the infielders were taking grounders from Brooks (First baseman), Rocchio looked bad, making bad throws and letting a grounder roll into the outfield. (Not a big deal, it’s just warm-ups). In the first inning, Curry gave up a leadoff single, then Lopez tried to steal- Naylor’s throw was well off target, but Rocchio let it bounce off his glove and Lopez went to third. Rocchio got the error but Naylor could just as easily have been given the E. Curry gave up a homer to (former Tribe farmhand) Nathan Lukes in that same inning and trailed 4-0 after one.

Bottom of 2nd, Bisons had a runner on first, grounder was hit to Clement, playing 2B. Ernie threw to Rocchio for the first out at 2B, then Rocchio flubbed the transfer and the ball rolled 15 feet away, so no DP.

Rocchio did make a few really good defensive plays as well. Great stop on a grounder in the hole, popped right up and threw out the batter. Also made a nice “6-3” DP.

In the 4th, Nolan Jones jumped on the first pitch and homered. His first at bat, he had worked the count before making an out, so jumped on the first pitch. Nice! Later he worked a walk with the bases loaded. He looked gook at bat. He was DH.

Curry struggled more in the bottom of 4 - 4 pitch walk, balk, homer, single, ground out, K, error by Clement. Then Adam Scott came in and promptly gave up a two-run homer. Scott gave up another homer the next inning.

Arias played left field and had no real action, but did make a bad throw after a single and was given an error. He looked ok at bat. Got plunked in the foot one at bat.

I missed the 9th inning rally. My bad!

I’ll add some more comments, sort of random. Bo Naylor has been slumping, I think he was something like in a 3-30 stretch till the end of last week but has been coming out of it. He was 1-5 last night. Not an impressive game overall. Will Brennan looked pretty good overall. Valera had a quiet game. After I left, Misiaszek struck out the side in his one inning. That’s about it.

The Bisons used to be a Cleveland affiliate and they used to field some excellent teams. I went often and really enjoyed the whole Cleveland era with Buffalo, often taking at least one of my kids with me. But now the ballpark is kind of sad for me. The concourse is dreary and impersonal, and the fans, for the most part, are fairly disinterested until they see themselves on the Jumbotron. Also, the box score says there were 6000 in attendance. I’d guess more like 2500.

One thing I forgot to mention about the Clippers/Bisons game. There are 19 pitchers active on the Buffalo roster and 17 for Columbus.
