2022 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do we know how long it took before he was intubated?

From collapse to Ambulance was 16 minutes. The medical staff (heard there was like 16 people in the medical staff there) did CPR in that time while still on the field. They had to quickly stabilize him at some point, so i would say 7-10 minutes his heart stopped based on educated guess on what we do know.

And per articles I am reading, his close friend has said he is still sedated but his oxygen levels are improving. He is still in the ICU, but they are actually hopeful. Best news we could have right now.

Cursory look said something like after 5 minutes of no oxygen to the brain shit gets bad. Cpr administered within 1 minute but only provides 20% of what would be normal oxygen.

If we're knocking off 20% of 15 minutes, not so good

Yeah its 5-10 minutes, there were tons of doctors there, both teams and an independent staff. Him being young and healthy, its closer to 10. My ex is a respritory therapists, the body has about 15 minutes of oxygen in it, so it only gets bad if the oxygen left his lungs which it didnt, since it was under 10 minutes. For sure there are other things to worry about, he isnt even close to out of the woods. All we can do is hope for the best for the young man.

Fabrice Muamba's heart stopped for 78 minutes. They took him out of the stadium continuously performing CPR. He recovered, got a degree and coaches kids as he couldn't play soccer after that.

As a Chiefs fan I think Hasselbeck’s idea is fair. In the AFC the #1 seed has three huge benefits.

1. The bye week, which advances your team directly into the divisional round with a week of rest and no injuries from a wild card round game.

2. Avoid having to play both the 2 and 3 seeds. If you’re the Chiefs, let the Bills and Bengals duke it out for the right to play in the AFCCG, where you only have to play one of them. Last year the Chiefs had to play both and came up short.

3. Home field advantage throughout. Believe it or not, Mahomes has yet to play a round playoff game. As a result, the Chiefs have hosted four straight AFCCG’s despite never hosting the game prior.

If Hasselbeck’s idea became a reality, the Chiefs would take the bye week and risk playing the AFCCG in Buffalo (which would be a good consolation for the Bills).

Definitely hearing a number of creative ideas that are being proposed now. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Ultimately, if I was the NFL, I wouldn’t announce anything until after the Week 18 games as some of this could be moot (e.g. Chiefs win and Bills lose).

Ugh. Why are they making us watch this garbage Raiders team as the first of a national double-header?? There were far better games scheduled for tomorrow.
