2022 Summer League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The shooting is non comparable between the two. Yes, Eason so far shoots better than expected, but his shots are wide open from the corners. Agbaji's are all contested, a lot are on the move and off balance.
I was going post this, I’m glad you did….l watch some of Eason 3 attempts, he was getting Okoro type looks, whereas OA was getting guarded like he was Klay Thompson no air spaces……I do believe Eason is going to be a good pro, but for this team, I’m glad we chose the knock down shooter……

Watching the Rockets games is not helping. :chuckle:

Eason comfortably taking and making 3’s in summer league is vomit inducing. He looks like a potentially average 3 point shooter out of the gate. He also is just an extremely strong, physical guy. He was rag dolling that poor dude trying to guard him.

REB / AST / STL / BLK combined in summer league:

13, 16, 17, 13, 14

Guys. Mentally prepared yourself for him to be a lot better than you’d like him to be. :chuckle:

Edit: I also just noticed the stats finally updated. He led Summer League in rebounding, as a 3. Yikes.

I just wanna know what the hell happened to him on his workout day. Was his ankle tweaked? Bubble guts? Hungover? Bc he looked like ass.

I don’t know but that is always the risk of weighing stuff like that too heavily.

Maybe the guy was over extended physically / mentally. Maybe he just had a bad day. Maybe 2 on 2 is a bad setting. All of the above.

It would suck if a flukey thing like just a bad workout nudged us to pass on a guy who turns in to a really versatile 3. Oh well.

Workouts are useful and can be important for making decisions when players are close together but it shouldn't be the prime deciding factor imo. Its much more important to focus on things like math, leadership, community service, thighs and basketball IQ. Oh and the name test

Fair enough but that’s what convinced us to take Garland so I dunno.
Garland didn’t have much college tape. If they used that workout to tip the scales towards selecting him, that’s fine. He had really nice, albeit limited, college tape. And he had a really nice workout.

Eason had plenty of tape showcasing his impact. A workout shouldn’t be a make or break data point in that case.

So when RJ played in the NBA was the talent too great for him to be able to score? I like his game. He doesn't pass that's fine. Can he score at an NBA level?

Richard Jefferson was a great scorer in the NBA. not sure what you are talking about. :chuckle:

120 games played?

Yea, let me think on it.

Maybe just VORP and BPM. I suspect he'll struggle with PER because he's not gonna be an efficient scorer early and due to not being able to dominate the ball he won't get to the FT line much. However, his rebounding might make up for it.

But it's also not a kind metric for guys whose calling is perimeter defense. Which is where I think he'll really make his mark the most early on.

If you are looking at something like Raptor........and viewing WAR.

Something like a 1.0 ish WAR seems to be the bench mark.

That tends to be a group of the top 10-11 rookies each season, for the last 3-4 years.

That included guys like Bane for example, who was a good role player.

The other stuff takes a lot more work to track down a ballpark that is fair, unless someone has it in one place?

They were completely different drafts?

So?

How does a player who's better at everything who also has much better size gets drafted 17th in a weaker draft and Okoro who had no tangible skills or size gets drafted 5th in a perceived stronger draft?

Both are considered to be close as far as archetype go..it just happens that one is much better at what he's supposed to bring -- one was liked by the GM and the other was clearly not. How does that happen? It shouldn't.

i cant figure out how Koby operates.

So 25 mpg, positive VORP and BPM by the 41st game of his 2nd season. We'll only be looking at the stats from his 2nd season, not his career stats, and he has to have played in 120 games.
