2023-24 Playoff Series #1 | Game #6 | Cavs @ Magic | May 3, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To be fair to Evan, if Jarrett Allen were healthy I bet he wouldn't have re-entered the game after turning his ankle. He wasn't himself, but relied on quick hands and length to have any shred of impact.

Said it earlier in the thread when it happened, but it bears repeating. Mobley lost a jump ball to freaking Wendell Carter Jr of all people. If that doesn't tell you how hurt he actually was and how it was affecting his game overall, I don't know what to say.

Again, I think you have to blow this shit up for a ton of draft picks and rebuild like OKC. This team cannot be salvaged even with a new coach.

Don't look at OKC. Look at where the Brooklyn Nets currently are.

That would be the reality the Cavs would be looking at since they don't own their picks. Maybe they add a bunch of draft capital, but that means you're almost solely reliant on Mobley and DG becoming true All-Star level players, and maybe lucking out on landing a high pick. Otherwise you wind up with what the Nets have, which are picks from likely playoff teams for the forseeable future.

Mobley gimped his ankle. Should have gone with TT. Gimpy Mobley is why 10-3 run happened partly.

It is what it is. Get a new coach. See what we can do with these guys as they enter prime years.

Suggs ran through two Mobley picks in a row, knocking Evan to the floor both times. His balance was gone.

Of course, this begs the question why it was not called a foul. Calls in the past two games have been complete head scratchers unless you believe the NBA wanted to be sure this went to seven for monetary purposes.

That performance by Mitchell was the greatest playoff game by a Cavalier since LeBron. My respect for that guy is through the roof, and not just for his talent.

Garland and Mitchell combined to make 32 of the Cavs' 42 field goals. Morris and Niang went 2-for-12. We have no power forward. If Wade were healthy we probably win this one. Same for Jarrett Allen.

LeVert averaged 14 ppg in the regular season and the Cavs were pushing him for sixth man of the year. He should get the Invisible Man award for the playoffs. Seven minutes, 1 point, and an air-balled free throw. The lights seem to be too bright for him. JBB didn't let him off the bench the rest of the game.

Darius has six rebounds - that's got to be his season high. He also went 10-for-17 with 5 assists and 2 steals.

The score was tied with four minutes to go. The Magic stepped up, the Cavs didn't. Banchero hit a 3-pointer with Mobley right in his face - an amazing shot. Carter blocked a Mitchell layup, then Banchero drove for a layup and was fouled. He missed the free throw but Garland committed an inexcusable 8-second violation. Mitchell made a floater but the Cavs allowed point guard Cole Anthony to get an uncontested offensive rebound and put-back off a missed shot to give the Magic a 5-point lead with under two minutes to go. Mitchell missed a 3 and that was it.

Overall I'm proud of the way the Cavs competed and took it down to the final two minutes after being bitch slapped the first two games in this building. Once again they failed to make 30% of their 3's. They committed seven turnovers in the 4th quarter. They missed 5 of 10 free throws. They allowed 15 offensive rebounds.

So much was bad but they still had a shot with three minutes to go. Great effort, especially by Mitchell, but he can't beat the Magic by himself. Sunday they need everybody to show up, not just Donovan and Darius.
