2023-24 Regular Season Thread II: March Toward Destiny

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is simply incorrect, and Bickerstaff confirmed it postgame..

JBB said the plan was for the regular guys minutes through the third quarter and then get the bench guys minutes in the fourth.. He was directly asked if they were scoreboard watching and if they thought about altering their strategy to which he point blank said no and he wanted to stick to the plan coming into the game.. He also mentioned not altering their pre-game strategy as he was concerned that asking guys to go in the 4th when they had already cooled down was an injury risk that wasn’t worth risking..

It’s really not the conspiracy theory everyone is subscribing to..

They had their mind set on health over seeding and approached the game as such..

It’s easy to look back on it now as a decision that could have turned out better but also seeing CPJ go down in the 1st is a reminder for why they did what they did..

Okay, but why risk playing JA at all? If he goes down then this team is %$#&%@. Moreso than if DG went down again. Why not give those minutes to TT or Morris?

Lol, confirms something after the game is over... Great. Because JBB hasn't lied in a post game or said some BS before.

First off, we should have beat them even without our starters because they were without most of their team. Second, we could have won the game and then flopped hard with a decent lead just as the Bucks were getting into a deeper hole... And while the Knicks were losing. So the timing seems a little interesting.

I feel like you're wrong here and just taking JBB at his word. Something no one should do.

edit: If it was said before the game started, I'd buy it. But you can say we planned everything that happened in the game after it's over... Why even play a starter at all then? Bullshit is what we're smelling and you're eating it up.

Whether it was or wasn't the plan, certainly you shouldn't take a coach on his word post game, or pre game, or any other game or time when there is a microphone in front of his face.

And that's not just JBB, nor even all coaches, that's like literally everyone in the NBA.

And we've seen how many times JBB sticking to his pre-game plans before today?

He's notoriously stubborn to a fault. So I'm fine with what he said and the outcome. We've got a team in the Magic that are going to come at us. I'm happy we survived major injuries today. We are still a young team who are figuring out there identity as a team. JBB sees as a grind it out team, but what do the players think? We will find out soon enough.

I want to know what he genuinely would have done if he was drafted here... I hate the mentality that we didn't draft him because he didn't want to play here. But it does scream Koby.
“I know Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is shooting up draft boards but from what I can tell, it doesn’t seem like he wants to play for the Cavs,” said Windhorst. “He patently refused to work out for them, in fact made a point to tell them he didn’t want to be there.”

JBB before the game made a point how he would play players today and sprinkle in the CPJ injury…

You’re conspiracy is all good and dandy outside of the fact that the broadcast team said the team relayed to them pregame the plan was for starters to get limited minutes..

That plan was in place long before the game ever started once Mitchell, LeVert and Garland were ruled unlikely to play..

The reason any rotation player played at all is because they already had six guys out with injury and then another go down in game..

For all the shit Bickerstaff takes for being a simpleton, you’re giving him a lot of credit for juggling rotations, in-game calls, score boarding watching, and analyzing tiebreakers on the fly.. all of sudden JBB is a mental giant when it’s convenient.. :chuckle:

I don’t have any dog in the race other than dismissing things that aren’t true..

Cavs made a decision which could have turned out better than it ultimately did.. They
chose to take the cash in hand rather than go double or nothing..

Playing for health was the safe route which I can understand given how this season has gone health wise..

We might be a young team but the Magic are 10x younger than us. Especially as far as key players go. We'll find out next weekend who looks younger and more inexperienced. Also, the Celtics team was incredibly young when they first started their journey to being a top team, and didn't really wuss out the same way. Really hope once JBB is ousted, we can prioritize some toughness.

I must have missed that. Fair play.

Lakers dodged a major bullet here and this was late in the game when it was out of reach I believe.

Give me the safe route, home court first round against a favorable opponent all day over the risk of a major injury.

In conclusion, Allen is better than everyone except for Gobert, who'd better at blocking, rebounding, and draws more fouls. Allen scores more than any of these guys and has the best assist to turnover ratio, more assists than any, but also more turnovers. By EFF, Allen is better than Gobert.

MSN:

No. 1 Boston vs. No. 8 seed: from winner of No. 7 Philadelphia-No. 8 Miami play-in game loser vs. No. 9 Chicago-No. 10 Atlanta play-in game winner.

No. 2 New York vs. No. 7 seed: Winner of the No. 8 Miami at No. 7 Philadelphia play-in game winner

No. 3 Milwaukee vs. No. 6 Indiana
No. 4 Cleveland vs. No. 5 Orlando

I dislike the pay-in game loser vs the play-in game winner from the other series..if you lose you should be out...period..

So you think the winner of 9-10 should get the 8 seed?

The tank backfired. Pure and simple. Take the division title.
