Cavskermit on his island swearing you just can't expect to beat the Bulls! After all this team has Michael Jordan and Scotti....oh wait a minute. I'm being told they in fact do not have those players.

Never mind. Who are you going to trust? Your lying eyes or Cavs Kermit.

This team was better with star players injured. Has been all season. It is an absolute fact.

Considering Mitchell and Allen have fallen off since the Raptors blowout, maybe they can take a 6 week nap and come back for the 1st round playoff loss rested.

It's pretty telling that nearly every national pundit wasn't sold on the Cavs run due to the competition/scheduling, but the local guys all managed to convince themselves that we were a Championship caliber team because we beat up on a bunch of bad defensive teams in January and early February.
Don't think that's fair. The Knicks have a worse record vs winning teams than us, yet the national media has been sucking them off the last couple of months. Do not concern yourself with anything the National media says.. 90% of them don't even watch the Cavs games to know what the fuck they are talking about.

Most of this is true. Stephen A only talks about the Knicks in the EC after Boston, and only talks about Boston bc he has too. He also has selfish motivation bc he wants Mitchell in NY.
The rest take a wait and see approach. If they win a couple series they’ll get better coverage next year. They were waxed last year, and the loss is still relatively fresh.

I love Jarrett. He’s been our second best player this year. He has a couple of these games each year where he looks like he should be playing at the YMCA. No energy, lethargic, brain dead plays. Hopefully, it’s just because he was tired last night.

Two hottest teams before the All Star Break:

1. Cavs
2. Clippers

Records since the All Star Break:

1. Cavs 2-3
2. Clippers 1-3

Take this information however you want, but I think this sums up the ups and downs of an NBA season pretty nicely. This isn’t just happening to the Cavs

Here's a novel idea...if guys are tired and not giving you what you want, BENCH THEM. Allen and Mitchell were playing really badly for their standards. When guys are playing like they're dead and have no energy, the solution isn't to just cross your arms, (and in the process refuse to call timeout to set up a game winning shot) and just see what happens.

Don't just keep ineffective players out there at the end of the 4Q and through 2 overtimes because of some weird obligation you feel you have. LeVert, Okoro, Wade, Garland and Mobley had a great rhythm going. LeVert and Okoro in particular gave you a much needed spark every second they were on the court, and Wade played better defense on DeRozan than anyone else on the team. Why not reward them for their good play and let them finish the game?

JB is a stubborn motherfucker who does not make in-game adjustments or adapt to game feel whatsoever.

This is precisely the kind of thing that will kill the Cavs in the playoffs.

I'm so fired up and dejected about this, because it's one thing to lose games where the other team is just better than you, where your personnel just can't compete with theirs. I'm okay with those losses. It's another thing when winning is right there, you have personnel groupings that can actually put the game away, and instead you hopelessly watch your head coach lose the game in real time by clinging to a mediocre and increasingly ineffective starting lineup.

It makes me not excited for the playoffs at all, because this is all so fucking predictable.

To be fair, PG did not play 2 of the games they lost.

I dont think people are upset we are losing. It's whats going on in the games that's causing people to complain. Even the Mavs game.

There's a financial incentive for national media displaying the big market bias you're talking about. Even when they suck, the Knicks for Clicks dynamic was very real in terms of rumored trades that were never going to happen.

Having said that, and Stephen A aside, I don't know a lot of national media pundits who were predicting the Knicks to make a deep media run.

To be fair: Donovan didn’t play in two of the games we lost too. Cant make excuses for one team but not excuse the Cavs

One of the reasons I'm against the run your offense at all costs approach is it results in you forgoing real opportunities in terms of exploiting the other team's weaknesses.

Once Vuc fouled out, and Drummond was the only big the floor, the Cavs should've been running the high PNR. Instead we continued to run the offense everyone here wants to see, sprinkled in with some Mitchell hero ball, and we let the Bulls off the hook.

In reality Allen and Mitchell shouldn't have played last night if they needed rest. I know the new incentives make that hard, but them being out there was a net negative. I guess Mitchell still drew the Bull best defender but other than that it was bad. Allen looked like Knicks series Allen where he just got pushed around on both ends. I personally have never seen Mitchell drive to the hoop less and his defense was about as bad as it has ever been. Both these guys had to take on an enormous loud when Garland and Mobley were out and on minute restrictions so there's no shame in letting them rest a game and coming up with some injury designation. I'm not sure what Mitchell's illness was, but it obviously has made him fatigue more easily. I have a feeling part of the reason he didn't sit the game out is because he's nearing the games missed threshold for Awards and ALL NBA teams. The two of them played huge roles in us losing that game last night though. Mitchell missing a free throw and turning the ball over in clutch time and then Allen fouling DD (how he even got switched onto him is another issue). Last night was one of those games where I have to take a break from the NBA for a couple nights because I'm so mad.

Also here's the thing about the NBA. The very best teams (championship level) all have a wing/big (6'7" or above) that can create for themselves and open up the court for others. Boston has Tatum, Milwaukee has Giannis, Denver has Jokic, the Clippers have Kawhi and Paul George, and the Suns have Durant. I'd say despite the current standings those are the favorites. Having someone that tall that can initiate offense for you is such an advantage because they can see and do things that a smaller player can't. Don and Darius are both great ballhandlers and can create for themselves and other (in very different ways), but could you imagine if they had a taller wing that could take some of that pressure off of them and also create shots for them? I like our wings currently, but on the offensive end none of them have the ability to create shots. It is something I think this team is definitely missing.

The difference is they have 3 star level players while we have one. They’re afforded the benefit of the doubt. Not to mention a way better coach
