2023-24 Season | Game #18 | Hawks @ Cavs | Nov. 28, 2023 | 7:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
CPJ only plays 3 min tonight. That’s gotta hurt his confidence mann after playing so well the past number of games. Would not be surprised if JBB has him in DNPs the next games. You have to let these guys play - there’s going to be tough moments but it will help them learn and be not afraid to make mistakes and overcome.

CPJ might be slipping into the JBB category of a mistake or 2 resulting in
quick return to bench and no return.

Another good team win.
Despite that DAMN Bogdanovich and 3 other Hawks being in double digits.
Bigs dominated.
DG had a great game.
Donovan played mostly in the offense and had 40 and 11 rebounds.
Strus/Niang Connection continues to build power.
Okoro cameo yielded some good minutes.

25 point blow out at home. Damn the tournament, Atlanta has been OWED that ass whoopin' for a couple seasons now. And Trae DUNG wasn't able to grift his way out of it, even though The Ref Show was in effect.

Great job holding the Hawks to 44 points in the second half after they put up 61 in the first. All the Atlanta starters were between -18 and -27 with Young being the -27. The second highest scoring team in the NBA shot 34.7% from the field and 29.5% on 3's.

I didn't like that Cappella and Okongwu combined for 27 points and 18 rebounds, including 8 offensive boards. When we played one big and he ended up switching onto a perimeter player it left their two centers free to get great position for an offensive rebound.

Okongwu had a line of 13/9/2 in just 22 minutes. I wish we had taken him instead of Okoro.

Speaking of Okoro, he came off the bench to put up 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks in 16 minutes. It looked like JBB switched from Niang to Okoro and it worked well. Niang was a team worst -10 in 19 minutes and missed three wide open 3's.

Our starters were all between +16 and +30. Strus was +30 in 35 minutes. Mitchell had a tremendous game after the back-to-backs against the Lakers and Raptors to take off the rust. Mobley went nuts with 17 points (on 8-for-11), 19 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots. I'm pretty sure he'll get the votes of the Hawks' players for the All-Defensive team. He even hit a 3-pointer.

The Cavs won the second half 64-44. Sweet.

He is Harden’s rightful heir. All he needs is the fat-suit.

He’s the poor man’s Harden.

Very poor.

I’m not a fan of Harden or his “system” but Trae is nowhere near as good.

I probably hate them equally though - 2a and 2b on my list. Ben Simmons is a lock at #1 on my hater list although he hasn’t played much since his max contract kicked in two years ago. Bad back, nerve problems, alleged mental issues, cramps - but he’s always in the gym and really wants to play. Bum.

He’s already there. Played 3 mins, had a turnover and was yanked, never went back in

I don't think AC minds, maybe he is ready to take a step back. He has tried to retire every spring for 13 years now and the Cavs keep reeling him back in.
He needs to stop announcing it on april 1st :)

From what I can see, it's better to be AC than Campy. Now, where he at?

JBB would be making a huge mistake taking mins away from this kid. We need to continue to build his confidence now during the regular season so he can be there to help out come playoff time.

Here's a tweet from Woj dated June 14, 2021.

Sources: NBA’s Competition Committee met Monday to further explore rules changes to restrict unnatural motions on jump shots players use to draw fouls. NBA wants to limit players - including stars like Trae Young, James Harden - from leaning backwards and sideways to draw fouls.

From basketballnews.com:

The NBA’s officiating account (@NBAOfficial) tweeted that starting in Summer League and continuing into the 2021-22 season, officials would look to eliminate the following situations:

When a shooter leans into or jumps into a defender in an unnatural way.

When an offensive player abruptly veers sideways into a defender, or simply stops in front of him, giving the defender nowhere to go so they run into the shooter.

When a shooter kicks their legs up or sideways in an unnatural way to initiate contact with a defender.

When an offensive player uses his non-shooting arm to hook a defender.

However, in the last three seasons Trae Young's free throw attempts have increased from 7.3 to 8.8 to 9.2 so far this year. That 9.2 figure is the highest since his second season in 2019-20.

I personally don't think the refs are doing enough to limit players like Young who throw themselves sideways to draw contact rather than going straight to the rim. It will be interesting to see how much he gets away with tonight.

Pretty interesting that defensively you have to be stopped to get the foul, but as an offensive player, you can stop any time and need not be set to get the foul in someone's path

There is a technical flaw in their site that makes you have to login if you have a Roku TV..Thats what the tech at Spectrum told me..
