2023-24 Season | Game #21 | Magic @ Cavs | Dec. 6, 2023 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Happy cavs won the game. Impressed with Banchero. Cavs' offense tends to be clunky at times. I wish cavs guards would look into getting the bigs into better scoring opportunities when the offense bogs down. Mobley was already making that 15ft jumper but he never looked for it this game.

They got hot. Mitchell and Strus both put up a huge first quarter.

The Cavs are going to do that in spurts against anyone because they have a ridiculous level of talent.

It doesn’t change the body language and the mental miscues.
Almost no NBA teams play 48 perfect minutes.

The Cavs EARNED that big lead. A stretch of another good team punching back doesn’t discount that.

After The Magic cut it to 5, the Cavs then outscored them, a really good team, by 5 for the final 12-15 minutes of the game

Like what would anyone be bummed about from this game in December as we push, playing very imperfectly, to 8-3 in the past 11 games

Edit: removed unnecessary snark and also, I missed the entire 4th quarter so maybe I’m talking out of my ass. Idk

Not an impressive win considering the Cavs were at home with three days off, the Magic were missing two starters and the third starter went down in the 2nd quarter, and the Magic were 2-for-23 from deep. You'd think with all that going their way the Cavs would win by more than 10. Committing 27 fouls kept the Magic in the game.

But there was a lot to like. Garland had 26 points, 9 assists, and NO turnovers in 40 minutes. That is probably the first time in his career he played 40 minutes without a turnover. Recently turnovers have been a problem for him.

Mitchell had a line of 35/7/6 and bailed the Cavs out a number of times with field goals or free throws on an expiring shot clock that he created on his own.

The Cavs outrebounded the Magic 45-36. Is that the first time this season we won the rebounding battle? It just seems like it. The Magic only had 7 offensive rebounds and they lead the NBA in second chance points. Great job on the defensive glass.

Niang and Okoro were +14 and +16 off the bench. I was sure we couldn't play them together but it worked tonight.

You have to like the 29 assists and 15 turnovers isn't too bad against a team that's 4th in steals.

Paolo Banchero almost single-handedly kept the Magic in it with 42 points - a career high. He averages 19.5 but with three starters out he just kept shooting. He was extraordinary, scoring almost at will. Fortunately, he was just 1-for-5 on 3's despite being a 43% shooter from deep.

I like the way the Cavs withstood a furious charge in the 4th as they got some key stops down the stretch and make enough buckets to prevail.

That was the first time I've seen Allen lose it in a game. He was so frustrated at getting his pocket picked (and probably playing just 19 minutes due to foul trouble) that he almost got a flagrant foul and probably should have.

“We’ve had times where we’ve kind of let those games get out of hand and tonight we kind of grew up a little bit and figured it out and came together as a team. I think that’s another thing that we could build off of and remember a moment like this for future games.” - Max Strus

The Cavs maintained their poise after the Magic pulled to within 8 points midway through the 4th quarter. Garland hit a runner, the Cavs got a stop, and Niang buried a 3-pointer and the lead was 13, the momentum broken, and the Cavs were in control.

Those 2 missing starters for Orlando have been missing almost the entire season. And Orlando had as much rest coming in as the Cavs. So no, it WAS an impressive win

What's with the pointless negativity?
