2023-24 Season | Game #47 | Cavs @ Spurs | Feb. 3, 2022 | 8:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Another dance with the superstar to be tonight. And the coach who should retire after this abysmal season.
Retire? Here's what I wrote in the preview to the first game between these teams.

They also have three first round picks this year (including their own which will be top 3 most likely) and three more in 2025. Then two more 1sts in 2026, 2027 and 2028, plus too many 2nd round picks to count. That’s 12 first round picks in the next five drafts and they already have Wemby.

Pops turns 75 this month. Better beat him while you can; he’ll be back on top before very long.

So Pops has a solid young core to build around in Wembanyama, Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones, Devin Vassell, and Jeremy Sochan, plus six first round picks in the next two years. That doesn't even take into account superstar free agents who will be begging to play for the best coach in NBA history and alongside the next mega-star and a boatload of young talent.

Popovich is going to win at least three NBA titles before this decade is out. He should own this league from 2026 on for as long as he wants to coach.

The Cavs are clearly the better team, but in my opinion they have a bad habit of playing down to the level of the opponent. In the game in Cleveland they had everything under control with a 13-point lead with under 3 minutes left and almost threw it away. This time they need to be ready when Pops calls for a full court press. And JBB needs to show them the film of the Spurs win over Minnesota just a week ago so they aren’t too complacent.

This opinion completely ignores the fact they only starting "playing down to their oponents" since Mobley and Garland have come back, before then they were litterly blowing them off the court as early as the 1st quarter.

Mobley didn't play against Memphis and Garland only played 24 minutes and the Cavs were a +2 with him on the court. Yet with two minutes to go the Cavs were clinging to a 2-point lead against a 18-29 team.

Against Detroit Mobley and Garland played 22 and 20 minutes, but Detroit was ahead with three minutes to play. However, I will admit that the Pistons were shooting out of their minds that game and that was probably a bigger factor than the Cavs "playing down" to the competition. After all, the Cavs scored 128 points.

This is my favorite part of a winning season. The days are getting gradually longer, Spring is right around the corner, and with it, playoff basketball.

Damn Keldon is playing, I still have nightmares about that big game he had vs is a few years ago

cavs had a day off in a city not known for wild nightclubs. really should control the whole game and get porter 10 mins in the 4th quarter.

that said, no surprise whatsoever it is actually tight. it's a road game against a team with a super-talented big to block shots and some solid wing talent. i hope the cavs win and don't care how or when that becomes clear. just win your road games against teams under .500.

Nice court design for the Spurs tonight. Not sure I like the tipoff circle logo, but other than that, the colors are really nice.

Damn I love this court.

The added length of Mobley this time around is already making tougher for Wemby around the rim.

mobley already showing up on defense. so great to see that already

Mobley coming out the gate strong
