2023 Browns Training Camp Thread: Going to the Hall of Fame

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just curious... do you think 32-year-old Marquise Goodwin is faster than 23-year-old Elijah Moore?

At his apex Goodwin was faster, but the gap wasn't that wide to begin with and it stands to reason than Moore is very much in his "speed prime" whereas Goodwin is probably a little past his.

I mean hell, Schwartz is faster than both of them and no one is even factoring him into the equation because there's obviously more to it than straight line speed.
in terms of vertical speed Goodwin was top tier . Moore is more quick .
It’s a hit to the offense guys. Now Moore is really really critical. He has to stay healthy…..

Moore ran a 4.35 just two years ago. He's got elite quickness too, but a 9.77 speed score isn't some pud number. That's a great score.

And yes, I wholeheartedly agree with you that Goodwin was 100% a top tier speed player in the NFL at one time.

But that was 10 years and a decade's worth of NFL injuries ago. I think it's fair to assume Goodwin probably isn't quite as fast as he used to be at his apex.

Moore at this point is almost irreplaceable . Can’t afford to lose him.

I feel like we have members of the old Raiders front offices on this forum.

Timed 40-yard dashed in shorts don't translate to getting open. If they did, guys like John Ross and Derrius Heyward-Bey would have been exceptional and we wouldn't need to get anyone outside of Schwartz.

Unfortunately, that's not how coverages, routes or separation works. If you run fast in a straight line as a 9 route, you're not playing in the NFL.

This isn't Madden. You don't get open because you're 99 speed against a 92 speed corner matched up in man coverage.

You get open by understanding your craft. You get open by using your footwork to set up the DB, get him off balance, then go where you just created the space.

Marquise Goodwin actually performed well. For a track star, he's come along as a receiver--but he's the last outside receiver on the depth chart and if Schwartz wasn't a bust, or Jakeem Grant didn't get hurt, Goodwin never would've been signed.

He got an end-of-roster sized deal because he's an end-of-roster type player. I like Goodwin, but he'd have the same role here that he's always had--one of the last outside receivers on the depth chart who comes in and uses his speed to give some guys breathers and might compile a catch or two per game and wind up with maybe 400 yards total on the year.

Yeah, he's the starting slot receiver and, depending on how Tillman looks, the next option outside if Cooper or DPJ goes down.

I expect a lot of 11 personnel, with Chubb, Njoku, Amari, DPJ, Moore on the field this year.

Makes me question why Rodgers didn’t care if he was there or traded.

Wait, are you seriously under the impression that Marquise Goodwin was going to start ahead of Elijah Moore in 3 wide-out sets?

First, that was never going to happen. Moore should be a quality starting receiver in this league. Goodwin is a veteran depth piece.

Second, Moore plays a position, Y, that Goodwin cannot.

There was zero chance Goodwin would outsnap Moore this year outside of injury/off-field issues.
No who said that? I just think they had planned to go 4 wide a ton . Still might just with Tillman now . Listening to Zegura they are increasing their 4 wr sets .

Forgot how much I hate training camp.

Wish we could just fast forward to the regular season healthy.
