2023 Cleveland Browns - Regular Season Thread III

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is there any background info behind this stat? What is the significance of game 6…
No significance. My guess is someone went through to see if there was any pattern to how super bowl winning teams perform each week. As a part of this they identified that week 6 happens to be the best performing week for super bowl winners compared to the rest of the weeks. It's a bit outside of what you would off the top of your head suspect as far as wins in any given week which would be around 76%(average winning percentage for super bowl team) which would be 43 wins, but I'm sure its why they pointed it out.

Interesting note I learned looking this up on average in the super bowl era the winning team has a worse winning percentage during the regular season as the winning team (.78 for losers , .76 for winners)

Every Super Bowl winner over the last 22 years has had an e in their city or nickname with only one exception.

Teams with at least one e are 49-8 in the last 57 Super Bowls.

The Cleveland Browns have two e’s…

According to Chief Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta, every Super Bowl winner in the past decade had longer-than-normal shower time together after practices. "Our Business Intelligence analysts noticed a pattern in our data that shows an increase in shower time duration among Super Bowl winners", he said. "We've decided to leverage that data and expand upon it and this is why you're seeing the success we're having on the field."

HC Kevin Stefanski provided more details on this astonishing discovery. "We're not only increasing shower time duration but exploring various activities during this time as well. The time together is so exhilarating that we've began to implement this even on our days off. It has united and galvanized this lockerroom and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."

Vice President JW Johnson hinted at a future docuseries (restricted viewership) for these activities. More to come on this matter.

It's a weird meaningless stat. Super Bowl teams win allot more games than they loose. Game 6 is probably far enough along that the team is in a grove but not so far that injuries havent plagued them. Obviously by Game 6 we had major injuries, but most Super Bowl teams dont. Obviously that Eagles team that won with a backup QB or the 1972 Miami team with a backup qb are the exceptions. No reason the Browns cant be a similar exception this year.

also by late season teams start coasting, and taking weeks off going into the playoffs.

This cant be overstated enough. This is kind of an old school advanced metric state. But its ball control on both sides of the ball, hopefully this shows up, but look at how dominate the Browns have been. 2nd is Detroit. Stefanski is a master of calling a game to help the defense and control the ball. Even with Flacco gun slinging, its been a controlled type of gun slinging. Its why we continue to win.

Top highlight for me of the whole thing was Bubba Ventrone putting on a helmet amidst all the boys in the locker room and celebrating immensely as though he had never left to be a coordinator as he clearly still has that 'Cleveland DAWG POUND Mindset' abundantly within him yet!

I love Justin Hardee from the Jets (and Glenville High) going up to Flacco and saying "You know this is my City"...."Bring my city a ship"

I love that, once from Cleveland, always from Cleveland

I just think winning causes the stat, not visa-versa. Not turning the ball over helps. As does your defense being amazing. I don’t think it’s part of the strategy.

That said, it’s pretty impressive to have this stat with 4 starting QBs. Let’s hope QB5 keeps us on top!

The stat is a reflection of a playing style and winning. But allot contributes to it.
