2023 Cotton Bowl | #7 Ohio State vs. #9 Missouri | December 29th, 2023 @ 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I saw Howard and Cam, and I always just assumed Day would have one of them in the bag and an announcement would be made after the bowl games.

Will Howard comes in, he's a senior.

After that, all three guys compete for the starting spot. Fact is, the other two were already probably transferring anyway depending on who wins it. I don't think bringing in Howard causes Brown or Kleinholz to transfer at this point. Noland beating them out next season (or, who knows, whatever Freshman comes in the year after) would.

FWIW Will Howard is the guy to probably look out for. Like, Day might have a change of heart after tonight and make a play. I mean that's a possibility here. He hoped Devin Brown would show out tonight but since that didn't happen he couldn't change his tune.

I do think @inliner311 is right and that Howard would very much love to come to OSU and play if given the chance.

But he's gonna have to change the offense to utilize Howard because, to be frank, He's probably a worse pocket passer than McCord.

But he's an athlete and can really run. Not like Devin Brown where they say he can run but then you watch him and go "wait, he's slow??"

He's a good runner.

I think Will Howard is someone you can hold the structure of Day's offense against lesser opponents to and against big opponents you just tell him to go win the game and not over think the structure of the system.

Doesn't that contradict what he told mccord? Which is why he left?

So I think Mccord wanted to hear he was going to be QB1 and there wouldn't be another competition. He only has 1 more year of eligibility left so if he was demoted he would have to probably transfer and redshirt. You don't want to go to a program while redshirting because you never know what can happen in that year.

He wanted the extra NIL money just in case he had to redshirt and transfer. I think he jump the gun and got spooked by what Day said. Apparently his dad was heavily involved with the decision to leave.

I do think if they didn't burn his redshirt his freshman season that he would still be here. One year of eligibility left with your HC not fully committed to you is much different than 2 years left. He could take the risk of trying to hold the job for another season and still transfer. If he got demoted during his last season of eligibility, his NFL dream would basically be over. I think at Syracuse there isn't that risk and he gets drafted even if it's as a late round pick.

McCord wasn't that good, but he wasn't nearly as bad as people are saying. If Day told him he had to win the job against these fucking guys, I'm not surprised he left.

If that’s the case then McCord need to stop acting like a little bitch and beat them. He didn’t play well enough to be guaranteed QB1.

Probably time to accept OSU has slipped from elite status. It’s up to them to make the changes needed to obtain that again.

No idea where to start.

I have an idea.
