2023 Game #5 | #4 Ohio State vs. Maryland | October 7th, 2023 @ 12:00 PM EST

Not sure why anyone is complaining about game thread posts...lol

Now, if game thread posts carry over into other threads, by all means, call em out.

We looked like utter shit out there at certain points.

McCord is a fighter. I'll give him that. Absolute fucking dime to MHJ when we needed it most. Good game for him overall.

But he severely under threw MHJ and JF when they were WIDE open for what should have both been easy TDs. And he had time to throw on both plays. Get that timing down and let it rip, Kyle.

Feels like Day's feel for the game this year is lacking but he has a little bit of time to figure things out and he's earned the benefit of the doubt.

O-line is probably Day's biggest issue. Maybe some of his questionable calls work if the line is hitting their assignments.

Defense? In Knowles I fucking trust. This is what bend but don't break looks like. And while we had a couple DPIs our DBs are vastly improved this year. Laying people out and forcing Turnovers is a joy to watch.

The throw to Fleming was a terrible throw and thank god it didn’t cost them a TD

But the long throw to Harrison went about 57 yards in the air. Expecting to hit a receiver in stride 60 yards down the field isn’t realistic.

Yeah…not many guys can throw a ball 70 yards. That’s Cardale Jones territory.

Though, perhaps McCord could have thrown it earlier so it wouldn’t have had to be in the air for so long.

That’s a good point…some of his throws that look inaccurate maybe more to timing.

Considering Harrison was open by nearly 15 yards, one would imagine McCord could have and should have thrown that ball a good second earlier.

But he really showed some stuff late in the game. And that's just how its gonna have to be. Our running game, whether its the O-Line, the coaching, the scheming..w/e it is, hasn't been a strength for a while now. It wasn't last year. It isn't this year.

We shit on the O-Line but we continue to send lineman to the NFL who start almost right away. So the talent is there to dominate the defensive lines lining up for the Marylands and Indianas of the world more than we've been seeing.

Agree - my main concern is O line and running game. Not to be a broken record but they just haven’t had it for years now.

Right, I think it's becoming apparent it's not the RBs that are the problem with the running game. I think the concepts aren't flushed out well and the block doesn't seem to be consistently set up for the RBs to hit the holes.

I also think some of the problem is Day wanting to get his younger WRs on the field vs keeping the formations/personnel consistent between the run game and pass game. Since the o-line isn't up to blocking with 5 men and needs help, the extra TE and/or RB is a tell of it being a run. There is very little to disguise what they are doing. Also there is little misdirection to the plays.

I didn't get to watch the 4th quarter. I think it's fine to call bad football bad football, and that's what we saw early on IMO. I got caught up in the moment with a 4-loss team comment, though. I constantly get reminded that it's a 60-minute game yet I frequently forget that. Anyway, happy to see that they finally got some stuff figured out (seemingly). Nice win.

4 losses is out of the question, but 2 is definitely in play. The time to improve is running out fast.

That said they played well enough in the second half. When they just sling the ball good things seem to occur.
