I can't wait. Got to start a new thread now.

Cavs Vs Knicks is the first matchup.

We know the Cavs Core Four.

The team is going to need 4 other players to step up against the Knicks to make a playoff rotation.

Who is it going to be?

Looking at the box scores, the Cavs did well against the Knicks this season when they were able to hold their own on the boards.

But in the games when they lost the rebounding battle, particularly on the offensive glass, they fell behind.

Assuming Okoro is out, If I’m JBB, I’d start Cedi and have Wade off the bench as the backup big. Then have LeVert and Rubio as the other 2 guys with Stevens, Neto, and Green, Diakite being next on deck situationally (injuries, foul troubles, Cedi out of control, etc.). Finish the game with our typical closers: the core 4 + LeVert

Exciting times! My dream scenario is beating the Lakers in the Finals with Mobley blocking LeBron’s potential game winner to win the series

Very disappointed there is no Neto, as he would be one of my 4 picks.

I’ve been looking at the Knicks series and it’s going to be a fun one.

We have to get Mobley involved offensively. Two games against the Knicks he had less than 10 attempts and we lost.

Donovan and Brunson are going to do wonders for their franchises. Donovan doesn’t have to do too much like his previous seasons at Utah but he’s going to give it his best this time. Donovan has his revenge series after Brunson and Luka beating Utah last year in the first round.

Josh Hart gives a lot of energy and makes you work hard on offense. If he is guarding Garland or Donovan, he’s going to make you work from half court. Got to counter with our key guys playing off ball and utilize Mobley at the elbow.

We have to box out Mitchell Robinson, as he is one of the best offensive rebounders in the NBA.

Transition defense is huge especially when Quickley is on the court. They are not the most aggressive team on transition as they rank 24-25 in transition points. But when Quickley is there, they look to run in getting quick transition points.

Put Neto in if needed. He will work full court so it makes Brunson to work hard. We have to slow down Brunson.

I expect they try to PnR to get Donovan guard Brunson a couple of possessions.

Will RJ Barrett disappear?

Knicks bench is deep and they are hungry.

Getting Garland in a good rhythm involving Mobley and Allen will be huge. Garland hasn’t played well against the Knicks this season shooting 35%. The game we won Garland didn’t play and that was when Wade, Donovan, and Love combined for 22 3s early in the season.

We missed Jarrett Allen’s interior defense and Okoro’s on Brunson last time.

It will be a huge test as Garland and Mobley will have their 1st playoff experience. We do have Donovan, LeVert, Allen, Rubio, and Neto with playoff experience. If Okoro is fully healthy, he can make Brunson work.

Let’s go!

Do we know Okoro is out? Of all playoff matchups this is the one we actually need him for. Without him we really don’t have anyone to stop Brunson. Neto can match up with him defensively but I don’t see Neto getting many minutes given the need to play Garland and Mitchell

If he can’t make this series, it will fit right in to his career of being a theoretically interesting but not actually useful player…

I'm glad to see the Knicks with the 19th rated defense. No way the top defensive team in the league should lose a playoff series against #19.

Levert, Wade, Stevens, Neto

We'll need Levert and Neto to pester their Guards, and Wade and Stevens to body up their bigs.

Cedi was close to the top 4, but too inconsistent for my blood.

Very disappointed there is no Neto, as he would be one of my 4 picks.
Neto is a nice player that doesn't get enough time. I don't think he gets time in the playoffs either

Agree. Just holding onto the hope.

Brad kept mentioning how Neto was used this season, how well JB worked him, etc.

I disagreed with him in my own head. There were many instances where Neto off the bench could have been very helpful. When Guards were injured, or in a slump (see Caris), when Darius was out and prior to Rubio's return.

It seemed to me that good things happened every time he was on the court. He deserved more minutes.

Here are the core Cavs players' +/- numbers against the Knicks this season as reported by basketballreference.com:

Okoro +24.8
Allen +15.5
Mitchell +7.8
Mobley +4.4
Garland -3.2
LeVert -26.5 (Had that 0-11 shooting in one game)

I be surprise if he not playing…….

Knicks in 6, maybe 7.

They’re a much more well-rounded team, with better perimeter shooting and defense.

Our great equalizer in Mitchell is nullified by theirs in Brunson, who outplayed him head-to-head in last year’s playoffs.

They have playoff experience we lack, especially at the coaching position in a COY winner in Thibs.

For a team that plays at a slow, grind-it-out pace ideal for the playoffs, we’re horrible at late-game execution; Garland’s consistency in final possession floundering and Bickerstaff’s complete inability to draw up an ATO play will really be magnified here.

Top it off with our poor road record and the most Cleveland thing possible in losing to the team we poached Mitchell from, I just don’t see the Cavs pulling this off.
