2023 NFL Off Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only rankings I've seen this offseason (and its been a few; I can post them), have Chubb rated the #1 RB in the NFL. The only thing I've seen him *not* ranked #1 is Fantasy Rankings...

Also, just because he hasn't been asked to do it, does that mean he *can't* be a receiving threat, or just that he "hasnt been" a receiving threat? There is a difference.

Again I never said Chubb wasn’t a great back. I actually said as a RB I believe he’s the best “runner” in the league. But there’s a reason why on passing downs 9 out of 10 times he’s taken out yet backs like Barkley, JT, CMC and Cook stay in the game. They are more “complete” backs…..not to say they are better than Chubb but that they bring more to the table during a game.

Everything I've seen is ranking "running backs," not "runners," though...

Chubb is taken out on passing downs for Kareem Hunt, not me or you. Considering how durable and fresh he's stayed throughout his career, seems like that was a good idea. Just because he hasn't done mean he can't do it, or is a liability at it.

I’m not trying to be smart ass here at all, fellas! But I’m done debating this….
I love Chubb and as I said I he’s the best RB in the league. But he is nowhere near the catch and run players that CMC, JT, Barkley and Cook are (BTW they aren’t taken out on passing downs to be kept fresh). He was also taken out and replaced by Hunt why? Because Hunt was the better receiver of the two.
I also never said he was a liability in that regards or that he “can’t do it”!
But if you want to continue to look at Chubb through rose colored glasses and believe he’s taken out on passing downs “just to keep him fresh” or he’s just “not given the opportunities” to catch the ball as much then there’s nothing I say to change your minds.
This whole discussion is a matter of opinion.
You have yours and I have mine.

You're taking guys who catch dump-offs and saying they're wildly different.

They aren't.

JT isn't a pass catching threat. Neither is Chubb.

Show me a clip of JT catching a ball on a route that isn't just a dump-off, wheel or angle route that settles down in the gap that the linebacker vacated.

I doubt you'll find one... because he isn't a serious pass catching threat.

My question to you is what RB can you find that runs routes…..most RBs get the majority of their passes on screens, dump offs, wheel routes and angle routes! What football are you watching? Show me a clip of Chubb running a route! Doubt you find one either!

But there are a couple of catches in this clip:

Tried posting a video but it wouldn’t. There were a couple pass catches caught by him but you google him or look at his YouTube videos and you’ll see why he’s a top five RB

Damn man KJ Hamler got waived? I thought he could do well.

Ekeler, CMC, Demetric Felton, Aaron Jones, Nyheim Hines, Antonio Gibson, James Cook, Cordarrelle Patterson...

Do I need to continue? Or, should we assume you're already showing us your best when I say Chubb isn't a pass catching threat and you respond with "Show me a clip of Chubb running a route! Doubt you find one either!"

You’re losing your battle! Every one of those backs catch the same type of passes that JT does and tons more than Chubb. Bottom line is very few backs “run routes”. Occasionally maybe but not on a consistent basis. They all pretty much get swing passes, screens, dump passes a few past the line of scrimmage. Come back after you actually watch running backs other than Chubb.
I’m done with this.

You got me bub.

Thanks. Going to watch a second RB now. I'll let you know when I've finished.

Thanks for the insight, that’s unfortunate. I had no idea
