2024 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What an embarrassing off-season, jesus.

that’s all well and funny, but blast them to hell in November with what’s probably the most talented roster in the country

For the "NCAA is powerless" crowd:

They didn’t get a bowl ban for:

  • Playing ineligible players
  • Providing recruiting inducements
  • Additional recruiting violations on 30+ prospects
  • Having a player’s parent subsidize said activities
  • Tampering
  • Impermissible tryouts

When you read about what they were doing and the volume of infractions, similar to Tennessee……you apparently can’t get a post-season ban anymore. ‍

“Self imposed bowl ban” during a 3-9 season. You have to laugh at this being an “accepted” portion of the punishment.

LSU did the exact same thing during the covid season for the 'booster stealing money from a children's hospital to pay players' scandal.

But yeah, self-imposing penalties has always been a way to lessen the final punishment from the NCAA. It's where Gene Smith really fucked up with Tatgate by not self-imposing in 2011 and costing us a National Championship Game appearance (and nearly certain victory) in 2012.
