2024 Season | Series #10 | Guardians @ Astros | Apri 30 - May 2, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I love Gimenez.

I did not like that.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he gets dotted today.
  1. I don't think people get beaned in today's baseball. Putting a free man on base is just about always stupid.
  2. If they're dumb enough to do it, Gimenez loves getting HBP. He'll gladly take the base and maybe swipe second.
  3. Gimenez was having fun. Anyone taking serious offense at that needs to take a deep breath. I love the way he plays defense with such joy. Not enough people play like that anymore. I haven't had this much fun watching an infielder since Omar.

This just in.

Guy who hits ball harder than the other guy has a higher BABIP.

More at 11.

News to me that a 0.8 avg EV difference this season results in 57 BABIP point swing.

Rocchio has higher EV than Gimenez, Kwan and Florial, btw

Why are we talking about this years stats when the posts you’re responding to clearly said Arias was hot ass in 2023 by statman and those are the numbers given to him?

I just don’t see what you guys see in Rocchio right now. I don’t know a better way to say it. I didn’t last year either.

You’re good with small tiny signs within poor production in a different way from the previous guy providing you poor production.

Just 1 guy offered up his poor production striking out a lot more but hitting the occasional ball out of the park. The other offers his poor production with higher contact rates but 0 power.

Still the end result. A bad player. You should want your starting SS on your favorite team to be showing you more than Rocchio is currently, even in their early stages in the MLB. End of conversation.

The difference is one got worse while the other keeps improving with regular playing time. That's the most important thing with young players.

Should we have given up on Gimenez after 2021?

Rocchio needs time, but he's tightening up his approach, which reflects in his BB/K while incrementally upping his batted ball data. For me those are signs that he's on the right path.

What are the solutions if Arias and Rocchio fall on their faces? Is their a SS in our system our are we moving giminez over

That'd be hilarious, but also proof that you keep adding value everywhere
His early season plate discipline and hitting is impressive. As of now his BB% has improved 10% over last years numbers and his BABIP isn't inflated much/at all .321.
