If I were a Magic fan, I too would be concerned about Dwight being suspended. But at the other side of the coin, you can't just abuse people inside when there's absolutely no play on the ball. Now, am I biased because I'm a Cavs fan? A little, sure.
The elbow in and of itself was not _that_ bad. But, there was no play on the ball and it was done on purpose. That's where the problem lies. You can't just elbow someone _in the head_ because he's annoying you for playing defense (and possibly getting away with fouls).
Yeah, Dwight does take some damage inside. Look how big the guy is though. He basically asks for it because of his power and position on the team. I'm not saying it's right to hit Dwight, but how many people can legitimately guard him one on one, especially if he gets a step on you? Would Magic fans really advocate their players to allow opposing big guys inside to not foul so a free dunk/layup goes on the board and excites a home crowd?
I am also glad to see that the refs/NBA will pay more attention to Howard in the paint. He does get away with an awful lot of 3-second violations. All that bitching and moaning from SVG and Magic fans about the call when the Magic played in the Q was justified. He camps out there _ALL the time_ on both ends of the floor and if you do it, you need to be penalized.
And again as others have said, I cannot think of another player who takes more abuse inside than LeBron James. Do you see how hard the guy is hit sometimes?
