I think people are sleeping on this guy. Guys like Sullinger couldn't move him in the paint and yet despite having Kevin Love type strength he can run the floor and is very agile. Not explosive like Dwight Howard but he's very quick on his feet. Tim Duncan in a Kendrick Perkins type of bodyframe

I could imagine him and AV together would be a terror on the boards and really solidify the 4/5 spots

ugh not this again

also insider only said this

Positives

* Tough, physical player
* Very skilled, can do just about everything
* Loves to draw contact in the paint
* Crafty finisher at the basket
* Can handle and pass
* Has shooting range out to the three point line
* 7-foot-1.25 wingspan and a solid 9-foot-0.5 standing reach

Negatives

* Not an explosive athlete
* A bit undersized for his position

also him being ineligible really fucks things up.

I like him more than most I think. Perry Jones scares me because of the its the coaches fault attitude with him. He should dominate and he doesnt. While Enes has an unfortunate first name, he definately is someone to consider if we fall out of the top 2 or 3. Or if for some crazy reason Irving, Sullinger and the other Jones dont declare this year.

I'd take Enes over Sullinger mostly when going with two power players go with the one that is bigger. In the World Select game, no US player including Sullinger was able to matchup with Kanters combination of size and strength. Hell I'd likely take Kanter over Jones: at least with Kanter you know for sure you're going to get a guy who is going to compete out there and have an positive impact

Maybe this should be "A Closer Look at the Euros" thread since there is a lot less information on each one and very few if any have seen any of these kids play.

Not every Euro, just the one's expected to be taken in the lottery, Kanter, Vesely, Jonas V., and Motiejunas. Personally I could see any of them jump up draft boards and be taken in the top 5. Just a thought...

Said last night that we really need to start considering the Euro players. Cavs could end up picking 3rd or 4th and players like Irving and Sullinger could very easily stay in school.
I only want the best player available. If that's Kanter or Motiejunas than so be it. Both of them are highly rated and unlike past international prospects who were workout wonders, these two have actually produced at a high level on the court.

I like Kanter better than Jones, Sullinger, or Barnes.

Could end up being a Daugherty like kind of pick by the Cavaliers. A somewhat skilled if not a bit slow footed big man with a nice skill set? There would be a LOT worse guys to take a shot on for certain.

Why doesn't the kid just play in Europe for a year instead of wasting his time with the NCAA. It's clear to me they aren't going to let him play.

I didn't think Kanter's skill level was evident in the video - at least not anything that would draw comparisons to Timmy who was getting it done defensively in College and nailing those unstoppable spin & step back jumpers. Bullying your way around in the paint isn't enough. Heck, Samardo was able to manhandle Cousins in pre-season and look where those two guys are now.

The thing here is if you're going to be 6'10" and not 7+, you'd better have outstanding hops, handles, athleticism, court awareness, skills, etc, or you're not going to be a franchise player. Kevin Love is an amazing player, but his team is just 10-32. Even when KG was playing on bad knees surrounded by a cast of crap, the TWolves were never that bad.

Of course there may not actually be a franchise player in this draft ...

he's already been ruled permanently ineligible

what's funny is that the NCAA prez was the president of the university of washington when Kanter verbally committed there.

Every time I see the name I think of Anus Cancer, but that is just me.

Kanter is my #2 prospect after Irving... He's the guy, right now, I'd like the Cavs to take if Irving isn't there..

If anything is evident in this league it's that you need good big man and while I don't think Kanter will be an elite center, he has the potential to be a pretty good all-around center and contribute on both ends of the floor... I'd compare him to an Andrew Bogut type player and I'd have no problem with that...
