A closer look at Enes Kanter

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bogut is a nice comparison from what I have seen. I'd buy a Marc Gasol comparison for a dollar.

He seems to answer a very important question: What would Zaza Pachulia be like if he didn't suck on offense? Additionally, what would Zaza Pachulia look like on the floor if he wasn't covered in unsightly swarthiness?

I wish I could see more of Kanter, but that won't happen. After seeing his soft but effective finishes, his jump shot, and his willingness to mix it up in the paint, I see him as a nice step one in a multi-step process in rebuilding the team. He is no future All Star, but he seems to be a future solid starter at a hard-to-fill position.

I think the biggest lesson we can learn from this video and thread is how difficult it will be for Sullinger to adapt to NBA. Going against tall, strong and tough players is going to be a regular, and if he had trouble against Kanter, he'll have even more difficulty against more experienced players.

In the top 3, I'm not a fan. At maybe.....7 or 8? I'd be much bigger propenent. I don't like the Bogut comparison because I'm not sure Kanter is even worth a damn defensively.

was thinking the same thing

I'd compare him to an Andrew Bogut type player and I'd have no problem with that...

My problem with this is that Bogut played two seasons at Utah, and clearly demonstrated a solid progression: 12 & 10 on 57% his first season, and 20 & 12 on 62% his second.

What do we know about Kanter?

That he put up 2 & 2 in just 8 min per game in 4 games in the Euroleague?!?

How can you compare him to Bogut when we know about as much about him as we knew about Darko when he came out?

Whatever happened to that Greek player, Schortsanitis (aka Baby Shaq) ?

He wasn't beating up on college kids, he was going toe to toe with the "redeem team".

Has he even made an NBA roster?

Enes Kanter, HUUUUUGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEE queston mark ?. scary taking this guy in the top 4............... period.

Sophocles ate himself out of possibly making it to the NBA. In 2006, he looked like a power forward with some low block strength. He pushed around NBA players when Greece upset the US in 2006. By the summer of 2007, he looked like Tractor Traylor. It's a shame he couldn't say no to the baklava.

I know we are off topic, but check this out:

I guess he is back to around 300 pounds now.

Wow...

You know. He just might be an upgrade over Samardo ...

I would like to see how he does when he starts working out with teams. I have absolutely no interest if he isn't an effective post defender.

this guy doens't look that great - i wouldn't take a chance on wasting a top 5 pick on this guy.

We do need to consider that not every top underclassmen is going to come out. Cavs may not have their choice of Irving, P. Jones, and Sullinger. Kanter is considered worthy of a high pick by most talent evaluators. Cavs also could be choosing 3rd or 4th in the draft.

I can only imagine the outrage and criticism from casual "fans" and the clueless, in regards to basketball, local media on draft night if the Cavs picked Kanter. Most would have never heard of him before.
