This ain't happening obviously but damn would it be nice. NO is 2-5 and looks like there going south fast

Okafur/Paul for Z/Mo/Hickson works. Throw in Eyenga and 3 first rounders and that would save NO close to $50 million dollars. Just another reason that it would be nice for Hickson to show something out there now that he is starting. :D

I've been trying to figure out a way this might work since the offseason. Throw in Rondo's provocation, and Paul's probably very close to lobbying for a trade.

But, like you said, it will never, ever happen.

lol i was just thinking the SAME thing

NO doesnt want to build a team around paul

him and okafur would be awesome

W&G did say a few months ago (if I'm not mistaken) that CP3 would be the one player in the NBA that we would pull out all the stops for. Adding CP3 to our team would be an absolute guarantee that LBJ would never leave.

Could you imagine if we had Paul, kept Lebron, and signed someone else of note over the summer? Whewwww......

Wishful thinking....

If Paul did somehow become available, we would have to offer them more than that, and we'd have to take back Peja (their worst contract probably).

Something like Mo + JJ + Z + Delonte + S&T Wally for $3M to make the money work + 3 1sts for Paul + West + Peja seems more likely.

Keep in mind though that Paul is BYC this year. That affects how deals for him can be structured.

It seems as though New Orleans has gone nowhere but down since Chris Paul signed that extension with them at their peak. I wonder how realistic the chances are of CP3 getting fed up with the situation and joining easily his best friend in the league in Cleveland where he spends a lot of the offseason anyway.

That would be insane.

Let's keep in somewhat realistic and dream about getting David West. Best case scenario: The Hornets give up on the year and send us Posey/West for a package based around JJ+Z+picks.

I know this is RCF (where fans post sensible things), and I know that Pioneer did include a disclaimer when he started this thread, but DAMN! Why do I feel like giggling like a little girl :chuckles: when I think of once-super-teams going south and us having all these trade chips?!

While I have no doubt that the Cavs would pull out all the stops to make this happen, New Orleans would basically be submarining their franchise in a market that is already struggling. They would HAVE to get at least 2 first rounders and 2 solid young players (maybe Hickson and Eyenga but thats a stretch)

You would need a stud young player and high draft picks, neither of which we have.

Unfortunately, there would be probably be other offers better than what the Cavs could offer if the Hornets decided to move Paul. On the other hand, I could see the Cavs getting West for a reasonable price.

You trade everyone and every thing not named LeBron to get Chris Paul. That still might not be enough either.

There is only one way we can get CP3, Bosh or Wade. That said player has to tell their team they are not signing an extension before the trade dead line, and that they will on sign with Cleveland.

So many other teams have much more attractive packages to put together it is crazy. So while its is ok to dream, that ladies and gentlemen is the only way this trade goes down at all.
