Not enough cap savings. Not even close. Sorry, if NOH is trading away their cash cow, they're trading away their garbage contracts with him. It's a fact. If you disagree you're wrong. Taking on James Posey won't get you Chris Paul. It just won't. You don't understand how deep the Hornets could be in financial ruin.
Peja is a garbage contract for a SINGLE year. If this was a year ago, it'd be different. If NOH was so concerned with it's financial position, why would they trade Tyson Chandler (a guy who had EXCELLENT chemistry with CP3, and who expired after the 10/11 season) for a guy who signed a 6 year, 72 million dollar deal the year before?
Chris Paul is a fucking superstar. The best PG in the league (by a wide margin). You don't get a player like that for primarily cap savings. You get a player like that for actual TALENT PLUS some cap savings. You won't find more talent than Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, and a top 10 (or better) pick in this upcoming draft.
You claim that the Hornets could be in financial ruin. So, if they trade CP3 for JJ Hickson and cap savings....what, exactly do you think the fans will do? You actually think they'll go to games and support the team when you just traded away a player like CP3 for expiring contracts?
Anddddd again Chris Paul is sent to a team of CRAP. Again, remember the Kobe fiasco when he demanded a trade. No team would give fair value for him, and when they did, he didn't want the trade because he wasn't going to win at destination X either. That scenario taught everyone a LOT about superstar trades.
CP3/Salmons/Deng/Gibson/Noah with Hinrich, James Johnson, Posey, and Peja coming off the bench is a team of "crap?" No, that's actually a team with a good young core.
All this does is take Paul and put him in another terrible situation with a crap supporting cast. Like I said, these trades will NOT take place, because if Paul cries foul in NOH, he'll cry foul there as well.
Do you know what the concept of "rebuilding" is? That's what NJ is doing right now (and into the draft this year). It doesn't put Paul in a terrible situation whatsoever. It puts him in a situation where he can lead a team of young studs (Brook Lopez, CDR, Courtney Lee, & an upcoming top pick in the draft) to eastern conference dominance for the next decade. CP3 is unhappy now because his team sucks AND they aren't improving. The Nets suck BUT they are going in the right direction (and fast).
That's the worst CP3 package I've ever seen, and again, he goes to a shit team in no better position than the Hornets.
You've EVER seen? Lol. I suggest you do some draft research. This is going to be an EXTREMELY strong draft, and if the Nets are one of the bottom 3 teams in the league when the trade happened that'd give the Hornets a very good chance of getting a PG or PF/C to build around. There is this one John Wall guy, he's projected to be better than basically all the current young PGs except for CP3 and maybe D-Will. I'm sure the Hornets would hate to get him!
This might be the best offer and the only one I even see coming close to even thinking about having a trade happen. I still contend that Peja's contract has to be eaten though.
Mo Pete and Posey's combined contracts are worth 1-2MM less than Peja's (plus Posey's goes on for an extra year), so leaving Peja out actually isn't that bad
Not a good package, Heat aren't taking on the necessary contracts along with Paul. Riley is gunning for Bosh.
True, maybe. But there's no guarantee that 1) Bosh leaves Toronto, and 2) He goes to Miami, no matter how much Riley "guns" for him. If February comes around and Bosh hasn't given any indication he's leaving (publicly or privately), Riley might want to guarantee he gets a superstar instead of risking it on Bosh.
No chance it happens, doesn't offer cap relief.
It would offer some cap relief and give the Hornets a new franchise player in Roy. It might not save as much money cap-wise, but they wouldn't lose as much money from the fans either.
All of those trades may be better, but aside from maybe one, all of them have no chance, NONE, of taking place. None. I don't think the Cavs, or ANYONE, will get Chris Paul, but I'm telling you that if by some miracle he was traded, the Cavs are a team equipped to put together the most realistic package that fills the needs of the Hornets.
Chance CP3 is traded? 0.000000000000001
If he is traded, chances the Cavs have at landing him? Decent. Maybe 25%? 30%?
I wish that was the case, but I think those %'s are definitely exaggerated. I also don't think trading CP3 is that out of the question, either (not saying there's a good chance, but it's a bit higher than 0.000000001 )
So, the Cavs have a 25% chance of landing the trade that has a .00000000000000001% chance to occur. Someone do the math :chuckles:
