Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Zach Randolph just signed a 2-year extension with the Grizz, Marc Gasol is staying.

We only need to ride AV out another year and then he'll probably stay on a vet minimum, especially if we're bringing in stars. If TT takes a reasonable extension/hometown discount then I think he stays. Having 2 other Canadians here might convince him to take a hometown discount. I'd give him 4 yrs/28-30M and feel decent about it.

I would like to see what TT could do at the 5 for long periods of time. I think he could do it but who knows. I would rather sign Gortat than hawes if he is cheaper. Just dont really see the need in paying him big money to shoot threes and play zero defense.

TT at the 5 would be exactly like Hickson was at the 5 for us. Whether you think that's good or bad is up in the air, but TT has better hands and probably a better low post game and not as much bounce.

TT was awful defensively at center last year, guys. We should never play him there again if we're trying to win games.

Martel Webster out 3-5 months with herniated disc

Increases need for the Gizzards to keep Ariza which increases our chance to steal Gortat.

I suspect the Cavs will offer Dion/TT/multiple picks for Marc Gasol and the Grizzles will make farting noises ending that dream, but it is worth the call.

Trade for guys like Mozgov or Koufos, in worst go after Dalembert, Brandan Wright or even Biyombo.
What about Alex Len? I would be happy if we trade for him.

I forgot about Koufos. Grizzles can't afford to give him much of a raise.

And he is a local to boot. GET IT DONE GRIFFIN.

I'm not a big fan of Gortat here but I'm a huge fan of getting Pau Gasol here with his passing ability as a 7-footer and his pick and pop/roll ability with our guys..

Wizards’ brass traveling to Poland convince Marcin Gortat to remain in Washington

"Now that the NBA draft is over, the full-court press is on to convince Marcin Gortat to remain with the Wizards, who are sending a contingent to Poland before the free-agent negotiation period opens July 1, CSNwashington.com has confirmed with multiple persons with knowledge of the situation.

Coach Randy Wittman and Tommy Sheppard, senior vice president of basketball operations, are leaving Friday to visit Gortat who has been coordinating basketball camps across his homeland."

Gasol is awful defensively. I'm assuming they will look for rim protection at the starting C position.

We already have Varejao under contract, who's 2 years younger, and who can do all of those things plus rebound and defend. Why in God's name would we spend precious cap space on Pau?

Why can't we just trade Dion for Drummond?

I'm sure Van Gundy would understand, Dumars would.

If it was just rim protection I wouldn't even care.

He is 33 and although he bounced back a bit last season he is clearly on the decline.

He doesn't seem like the mercenary type, I see him going to an established playoff team for relatively cheap.

If it does come down to a bidding war I could see him turning into one of the worst contracts in the NBA by this time next year.

Development-wise he would be amazing for next season but we need to be thinking 2-3-4 years from now. I would rather just gamble on Andy as the starter next season and then run around like a chicken with my head cut off in 2015 trying to get a center then give Gasol a long expensive contract.

Drummond is everything Griffin hates. Was a key voice against him in the 2012 draft.
