Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

I don't see how anyone can hate the pick, we just filled one of the biggest positional holes in the entire league. This team's small forward spot has been an open wound in the Cavs roster since LeBron left four years ago. Although Wiggins' best position moving forward is shooting guard, he's got the length and quickness to be an immediate factor guarding small forwards next year- that's the part that Jabari honks don't seem to understand. We needed someone capable of helping us get stops, someone that can make a big impact without the ball in his hands.
I've said it many times, his offensive limitations have been wildly overblown at times. He's a developing jump shooter that can get his shot off from any area of the court, who also will attack the rim to earn easy shots and free throws. The KU offense didn't feature this as well as some other colleges could, Wiggins could look like an entirely different player as soon as next year in Blatt's offense.
He'll be a perfect fit on the wing for us- we desperately need shooting to space Kyrie/Dion pick and rolls. Does anyone think he can't top the 31.5% from deep Deng shot for us? Or the 32.8% from Gee? Wiggins will flourish playing with guards that can create shots for him, he's never played with a single guard as talented as our backcourt duo of Kyrie/Dion. That's a big reason I'm not as concerned with his half court offense as many others are.
Can we imagine what Wiggins is going to look like with a steady stream of wide open corner threes that Gee/Deng couldn't consistently knock down to save their lives? He's a better shooter when he's catching and firing, and he's already displayed NBA range on many of his 3's. He's also got the quickness and elite first step to beat defenders that close too hard to the rim for easy scores, something that is going to be featured prominently if with Kyrie and Dion doing the majority of initiating his first couple seasons.
You add it all up, and the Cavs hit a grand slam with their pick. Very few wings have came into the league as destined for stardom as Wiggins is, he's only just starting to scratch the surface of his potential. We've got the right coaches and players to let Wiggins step and and help a team immediately with his athletic presence on the wing. For the first time since the Cavs took Kyrie, I can confidently say that we just nabbed ourselves a true franchise player, a player any franchise in the NBA would kill to have.
Let's fucking celebrate!!!
