This may be in another thread (I think the Haslem one) but I think it deserves it own thread.

Apparently the Cavs are having discussions with Celtics free agent Antoine Walker about joining the Cavs. If this is true, and Walker signs, expect Drew Gooden to be traded for a PG. If the Cavs are indeed talking to Walker, they're probably talking to Shareef Abdul-Rahim as well, who is leaning towards New Jersey, but could join Cleveland if the offer is right. Adbul-Rahim has previously expressed interest in signing with Cleveland, only if Zydrunas Ilgauskas is re-signed, which he will be doing.

Walker or Abdul-Rahim? I'd go for Shareef.

No, not walker, if we move drew, it's supposed to be to increase our basketball IQ, right?

Yes it is. Which is why I prefer SAR.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Yea, Antoine would be a terrible fit here. Poor shot selection and not the rebounding/defensive forward we're looking for. He'll take too much away from our offensive triage.

SAR would be good, but he also needs the ball a lot. I was thinking about him, but do we really need another post threat? Mike Brown has been discussing using LeBron in the post more. That means that we'll have Z, LeBron, and Drew that can go down low and put up some points. We need more threats from the arc like Cliff Robinson and Donyell Marshall.

Antoine is that, but his lack of defense, his mentality/IQ, and shot selection make him an unviable candidate. Plus, I don't think he would come here because he'd rather work out a sign-and-trade with someone for more cash than the MLE we can offer.

I dont want Walker. He has a lot of the same problems we have with Gooden and he'll probably cost us a lot. He averages about 18 shots per game. Would there be enough shots to go around with LBJ, Hughes, and Z already on the team? I doubt it.

I would try to get a banger pf like Evans or one that can shoot the three at a higher % than Walker like Radmanovic.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Please Ferry, not Walker. His defensive game is non-existent. His shot selection is awful. His overall fitness is pathetic. And I'm sure he wants a big contract. This would be a horrible addition to this team and I can't imagine that Danny doesn't see this.

I hope not. Antoine is going to want to start if he gets signed and he definatly doesn't fit into our starting lineup.

I don't think I want Shareef neither for the same reason.

We need someone who thinks "rebound" someone who thinks "defense".

looking at Walkers career numbers they seem more impressive then SAR. i especial look at what Walker did when he was in Dallas and they had a bunch of scoring options you can see by his shots per and assists he did try to fit their system. i don't think he would come to Cleveland and be a mad bomber.

i was not a big antoine walker fan in the past but over the last few seasons he has shown me toughness and that he can tone down his game. the one thing about walker that drew does not have is the ability to knock down outside shots. drew is to inconsistant with his jumper and it's the reason we were looking into haslem. haslem had a midrange jumper and walker does too. walker at least has the ability to hit the three also. i think ferry is looking for that shooting ability (on a consistant basis) from the four spot.

it's not the best fit in the world but sar has been more of a scorer not a jump shooter. i don't think walker would come in here a jack up jumpers left and right. at this point of his career i think he just wants to win. he showed it in dallas and boston. even in his stint with atlanta he was one of the few vets there and showed alot of toughness in a bad situation. imo.

I freakin Hate Walker's game. How many freakin ballhandlers do we want on the court. I want the ball in Lebron's hand the majority of the time and not Antione's. How many times does this guy just bring it up the floor and just chuck a 3 pointer: Aaargh I hope this does not go down. He also lack the atheliticism to finish inside.

Get a rebounding/defending type guy Ferry not Antoine

First of all we don't have a MLE we haven't had one and we never will have one this offseason. Now when hearing about Antoine Walker I was very skeptical, I'll admit it. BUT Drew is not defensive minded and he does alright rebounding. ALSO Walker is not defensive minded either, but if we are going to let Drew take 10 shots or more a night why not let Walker take those and a little more and make a good chunk of them. It also takes a load off the 3 point problem. If you ask me Walker has the edge on Drew on defense just because he is passionate and cares about the game more. Don't worry about what Walker did in Dallas because everyone shoots up shots just to shoot them there no one even bothers to play d or anything. So I give Walker the defensive edge he still gets 9 boards a game, adds another scoring threat, and can hit the 3. He is a lot better then Donyell overall. So hey if we can deal Drew for a pick or two freeing up money to snatch Sarunas then we have a pretty sweet 5.

I would tend to give Walker the benefit of the doubt too. I hated his game in Boston (first stint) alongside Pierce. I hated his dance jiggle, hated his look, everything. He has toned in down immensely, and seems to want to play to fit in more than before. It seemed he had a competitve relationship with Pierce to be the best on the court. He has gotten over that and seems to hustle and play his role, at least from what I've seen from him. It seems he became 10 times more mature after moving around a bit. In my opinion, he would play with passion here, and he would give us an end of game scoring option when LeBron is double/triple teamed. That is huge. I like Z's 3 point percentage, but I don't need to see that anymore, especially in the playoffs.

Yeah, now we can be positively assured that we are the most offensively equipped team if we added Walker and Sarunas. We could deal Drew for maybe a Reggie Evans off the bench, our 2nd unit is looking like the clear cut defensive unit. With Snow and Newble, and we have LeBron and Hughes in the starting unit. But with Mike Brown as a defensive coach remember what he said...I'd rather teach a shooter to play defense then a defensive player to shoot. Well if we land Toine' he will be able to try and do that, I think he will strengthen everyone. Remember when we had Silas' how great a rebounding team we were because that was his calling card? Hopefully we can have some offensive firepower teamed with Brown's defensive mind.

antonie walker  i'll just pretend i never read this...

donyell marshall- would be an ideal fit for our club, shoots 3's, plays pick n roll, and can help on the boards..

antonie walker, likes to keep his chubby ass beyond the arc.. and if by chance he posts up, and is successful ? then we have to deal with the 'toine shimmy.

NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Walked would garner at least 5.5 mil - meaning if we get Sarunas, there wouldn't be enough room, unless it is a trade with Gooden. Unfortunately, same deal with Radman or Marshall. The odd man out here may be Sarunas,,,we need his decison quick so we can move on. If he is out of the picture, one of those aforementioned "4s" will be fine in my book, along with the signing of a quality shooter/PG. We would have roughly 4 to 5 mil left if Gooden is jettisoned for one of them...
