@Tondo...

@BimboColesHair

And anyone else who wants to post... Let's move majority of the Arias vs Rocchio and whatnot talk over here...

Also I added a poll... So we can all voice our opinions on who is our 24 SS+2B Combo!

For the record I have been a big fan of Rocchio & his playing SS for many years.

That said I actually selected Gimenez at SS & Rocchio at 2b because if Rocchio falters it is easier to replace him at 2b with Freeman/ Brito then trying those guys at SS or making Gimenez flip over to SS during the season to install one of that duo at 2b..

Options 2 and 3 are the worst IMO, just don't see what we'd get out of those arrangements which makes the positioning of Gimenez difficult but is it really that difficult? Guy went from GG potential to SS to realizing a GG at 2B. I'm sure he can go back and wouldn't need a whole lot of reps to do so.

The main thing might be if defensive considerations get in the way of hitting but I have faith.

I'd hate to commit myself to one option now but at the same time Gimenez at SS just gives us so many more options as MadThinker said. Maybe hedge Gimenez at SS during the winter and see where things go from there.

I think Rocchio is more of the future than the now personally though. I'd rather see more of Arias and Freeman to start the year then figure out Rocchio and Brito.

Alternatively, we could move to trade Arias who probably has at least significant trade value especially to those who doubt Cleveland's ability to develop hitters, and that would just make things a lot smoother logistically.

Since I live 600 miles from The Jake I was unable to attend last night. Any suggestions as to where best to purchase a t shirt?

You're 600 miles and 15 years away.

Also, if our stadium has to have branding associated with it, here are two choices:
  1. The name of a massive local company that employs thousands of Clevelanders. Note: This choice also yields millions of dollars for your organization to spend on players.
  2. The rich owner slaps his own name on the thing in an act of vanity and hubris. You get no extra money... oh, and then for some reason you keep that owner's name on the building even after he sells the team.
I know which one I'd choose.

This isn’t a versus thing. That it’s pitted as such is dumb. I hope you all realize that.

Too many of you are more concerned about someone winning out or about being right about who wins out instead of wanting to see guys in the best position possible to determine if they can play or not and going from there. Which is how it should be approached when you have 3 relatively equal talents fighting for 1 spot and no one has done anything to separate themselves from each other.

You can’t play all 3 at once in a role conducive to discovering the truth about the player. If you are taking that as playing favorites or committing to someone or a versus thing you’re looking at it wrong.

Now, if we want to have a discussion about moving guys to make it so you can play all of your choices more frequently, that’s a topic I’d be open to as something more realistic.

You're expecting something more realistic on these threads????

You need a vacation...

You keep saying it's Arias turn, not a commitment, but to me this is lazy talent evaluation. What if Arias does what Brennan/Oscar did? Shows enough promise that you keep playing him, then regressed, but you've already dealt the others, who thrive elsewhere. This was the same "let's see what we got/their turn" situation.

My point: this way of "deciding" things is passive and prone to commit on mirage (this board being a prime example), just because "it was his turn" or "he's out of options".

And this MIF is much more crowded and more talented than the OF one.

If they truly believe they're all "similarly" talented, then I think that's a misevaluation.

But Gabe hasn’t shown the production right away that your 2 examples did. So why are you concerned about that happening? You’d be the first person to agree with that.

And as for the bolded. That’s your opinion. It’s not the opinion shared by others. It would be a minority opinion at this moment too.

Regarding Rocchio more as a future option then now, you need to remember that Rocchio, Tena, Valera & Noel all used up their 2nd of 3 options in 2023. If any of them is in the minors for more than 20 days in 2024 then the 3rd & final option would be burned

Thank you for both the economics and history lesson. I imagine it is true that one learns something new each day.

I will never be confused with a person who is a fan of our owner, not by a long shot.

The point is,,,,, I JUST WANT TO BUY A T SHIRT!
Good grief, lol
