Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh, I think you misunderstood. I was referring to all the talk after they won last week, when I’m pretty sure we all knew about his injured shoulder. :chuckle:

Ah, my bad. Just misinterpreted your post when you said it felt like a lifetime ago. Thought you meant the way they were saying dynasty when he was drafted, not a week ago. Missed the sarcasm.

All good. Just funny how much we are prisoners of the moment in sports. Just a week ago the Colts were the next juggernaut and today they got chewed up and spit out albeit by a very good KC team.

The way the team is being built looks good. But Andrew Luck appearing to have no arm at all looks pretty bad.

I don't watch a lot of Colt games. Take him out of his comfy dome, and out in real football weather. That was not encouraging to see. I'd be pretty damn concern going forward.

Those balls sure flutter in cold climate.

May not be the section but this talk about Lucks arm made me look especially with everything Washington gave up and us having a short stint with 2 of the members...

2012 May have the most overrated and also the worst first five I’ve ever seen with only Matt Kalil being a regular contributor.

Luck's problem was/is the Indianapolis front office.

They fired Bill Polian the very season before they drafted him. Polian had built the Kelly Bills team up in the 80's, The Panthers team that made in the NFC title game in 1996 (IN THEIR 2ND YEAR IN THE LEAGUE) and drafted players around Peyton Manning.

I mean they traded for Trent Richardson...Bjorn Warner isn't in the league any more...Phillip Dorsett has done exactly dick...

Dude was playing behind an offensive line so bad he had to get "voodoo"-like surgery for his shoulder IIRC.

Let's not forget that the Colts went 2-14 the year Manning got injured in large part because Polian whiffed on years of draft picks. Having Manning around masked the ineptitude around him, but that all came crashing down when he got hurt.

And have you seen some of the things he says on ESPN nowadays? A consensus opinion of knowledgeable RCF posters would easily make a better GM than he would at this point.

Firing Polian was deserved, and probably happened a few years too late. The real issue was replacing him with Ryan Grigson, who was about as incompetent a GM as you'll see.

They also, very obviously, tanked that year

Then they went from Peyton to Andrew luck

That’s why I hope the Colts never win a super bowl with him. They can fuck right off with that good fortune

I love the city of Indianapolis. I love the "500" and the Purdue Boilermakers were what caused me to be a football fan.

...however.

The fucking Colts cockblocked the Browns twice at key moments since I've been fan.

2007...Perhaps we're discussing how Joe Thomas at least got to make a playoff trip against San Diego Chargers that season? But the Colts went "Nope" and didn't even try allowing the Titans to swoop in for the 6th spot.

2011? Just...the fucking tank job. Could have had to deal with a lot less heartbreak had they just did some half ass season with Peyton Manning. But nope...they got Luck and we got the combo of Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson.

The weird thing?

Barkley got Offensive ROY and Darius Leonard Defensive ROY from the same PFWA. :chuckle: :conf (5):

Personally, I don't think there's any reason to give whoever got overall ROTY the defensive or offensive award too. It's redundant, since it's just a shittier version of the better award they just won.

Is that the consensus on those awards? Not asking rhetorically.

It just feels like this is stoking the Baker/Barkley debate.

I think it's something they do when the race is pretty close. There's been talk about doing the same thing with Mahomes and Brees this year for MVP and offensive POTY.
