Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dickerson had 1800 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving and its considered the best rookie rb season ever, true.

But he also had 4.6 yards a carry vs the 5.0 that Barkley had. Barkley had 500 less yards rushing, but 300 more receiving. Barkley had 15 TDs vs 20 for Dickerson.

But my point is that in the 80's it was a very RB heavy league and starting RB's typically got the vast majority of the carries. Barkley did this in an era when RB isn't nearly as important and the numbers are pretty close.

I am just saying this is closer than you are making it out. Barkley was the third best RB while Mayfield was somewhere between 10-15.

The whole reason we are saying Baker over Barkley is because of the importance of the position, but if we are making that argument which is valid, you have to point out that during Dickerson's rookie year, they ran the ball a ton more and the position had more value back then.

Just being a counter argue point because while I have Baker ahead of Barkley, its not by much.
I think when you look at the gap between the next best rookie QB from Mayfield and the gap between the next best rookie RB from Barkley it says a lot about what Mayfield was able to accomplish

Then I keep going back to the year when Dak won it over Zeke. I think there’s the best recent precedent for this

I agree Baker over Barkley, just saying its close.

Cant go wrong with either. Barkley was phenomenal.

I think the metric should be "offensive rookie who had the biggest positive impact." and if that's the metric...it isn't close.

It's the argument of most valuable rookie vs best rookie, I think. Like, Barkley is already a top 5 RB in the league, Baker isn't a top 5 QB yet.

To be clear I would probably have Baker get the nod, but I don't think it can be overstated how great Barkley was this season. In a perfect world they'd both be honored.

Yeah no surprise here coming from a New York Giants season ticket holder

Time to retire this bit with buddy boy and footbawl guy... jk, these should never retire.

Barkley has been as advertised though. Holy fuck he’s a weapon. Glad we got Chubb for half the price though.

Just imagine the damage Barkley would do with Taylor throwing him the ball. Or Allen.

Damn did Dorsey nail the draft. Not perfect but they never are.

Actually much cheaper. 2nd overall pick is worth 2600, 33rd pick is worth 580. We got Chubb for 78% off the price.

Well played Dorsey.

Well there you go.

This seems like a pretty dumpster dive hiring

Can anyone confirm?

The guy really did fuck over our QB. Baker comes in as a WALK ON, kicks ass as a true freshman..wins Big XII Freshman of the year...and doesn't even get offered a scholarship? What the hell.

Probably gave him even more of a shoulder chip though.

So in a way? Thank you Kliff.

I can't stop laughing btw.

It's funny how the people at pretty much every Texas school ever made Baker into probably who he is today.

TCU, Baylor, Tech, UT...all pissed him off

God I hope Pittsburgh and Baltimore said something stupid about him. If not? I'm tempted to spread rumors just to fire him up.
