Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh don’t worry there’s more to come going forward.

PS. I thought Tyler Bray was going to be a first round pick.

It's important to remember that as we get more and more information made available to us, it's natural that people change their minds.

Right? Even you have since January.

Weren't you jerking Baker as QB1 just 3 or 4 weeks ago?

With that said, players I'd rather have than Kizer:

1. Rosen
2. Mayfield
3. Darnold
4. Allen
5. Jackson

All are better prospects than Deshone.

Yeah because some of you guys are damn fucking convincing. It’s annoying. :chuckle:

Also I was very tired of the back and forth between myself and others about Mayfield.

But yeah, no one is right all the time. Especially about QB’s on an Internet forum.

I’m just excited as all fuck were all in on the wagon now though. It just took some people a little more convincing. We got a guy.

I haven't seen people this excited since DeShone Kizer was the future of the franchise in Week 1 last season.

But really though, I still think Mayfield can be a middle tier QB with good coaching. I'm not going to shower him in praise for having a pre-season Week 1 performance that we pretty much expected.

He and Tyrod just keep letting their freaks be freaks, and I'll be just fine.

Bless'm

Right? The same exact things were being said about Kizer last preseason...he and the team looked great.

And then, the real thing started.

I remember telling my Dad after the preseason that I thought we finally had our guy (Kizer). Was quickly off that train by Week 3.

With that said, I do have a lot more confidence in Baker. Still very early to be crowning him though.

Heh. But I'm serious. How many times have you heard "Browns have never even been to a Super Bowl?" It's completely true, and a pretty sad commentary on the franchise. It's usually some anal Browns fans who brings up Otto Graham and the pre-Super Bowl era as if that somehow mitigates the failure, but that was more than 50 fucking years ago. The Super Bowl era is a different period of football in which Graham never played. So I don't think it is really being "lawyerly" to point that out.

I only use this information when I'm dealing with shitty Steelers fans.

I feel dirty for doing it...kind of like Michigan fans should feel when they bring up their record vs OSU when they include all those games before face masks were used.

I get this sentiment, and we can agree on that.

Really, of the big 4, the only guy I was staunchly against was Josh Allen. Rumors on Rosen's attitude had me a little nervous, too.

In reality, if Baker becomes the face of the franchise and embraces Cleveland, we're all going to love him.

Would it shock you to know the last time a team went an entire game without throwing a pass... It was the Otto Graham led Cleveland Browns in 1950. And they won in a classic Municipal Stadium mud wrestling match against the Eagles.

For me personally, I like to embrace historic Cleveland. It ties me to my family and ancestry, especially no longer living there. If that is so wrong, I suppose I could finally give in and become a Bay Area smug asshat. I prefer the former.

Damn.

That's the first time a kid has ever yelled at me to get off his lawn.

Otto was very mobile quarterback and tough as nails. He was the best to ever play the position and that includes the likes of Brady, Manning and all others. All Graham did was win and put team above all. I think Baker has the potential to be a Otto type quarterback, it would be so great to see that type of leader on the field again.

Yeah. I've kept pretty quiet about it because it wasn't a productive conversation when I brought it up about Kizer, but it was pretty excessive after Kizer's first start with people calling the QB position finally solved.

I was very happy with how Baker looked. But it's important not to get too high or too low on preseason games, or even a small sample size of regular season games. It's going to take a pretty significant amount of games for me to declare something that has been a constant problem for 20 years solved.

Yeah we should def wait until our first playoff win before we shit ourselves with joy. Excrement for excitement. Fecal freak out.

So pretty much everyone chill until the first week of 2019.

12-6.
