Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm totally a beer snob. I have over 1,000 beers rated on RateBeer (joined 2012).

I love the Belgian strong dark ales the best. The highlight of my beer life was getting my hands on a Westy. Also love all the Trappistes Rochefort beers, Struise Pannepot, St. Bernardus, Chimay Blue.

I've given only two perfect 5 ratings in my 1,022 beer rates: Westvleteren 12 XII and Founders KBS.

The American craft scene has long been dominated by impy stouts and IPAs, and I like a lot of those, but I also like a lot of the German and English styles: pils, Oktos, schwarzbiers, weizenbocks, brown ales, ESBs, and winter warmers.

Not into the hazy IPAs that have been big lately. I prefer the traditional bitter IPAs. Don't like the low-alcohol ones, either -- IPAs do best at about 6.5-9% ABV, IMO. The DIPAs can be too heavy for me, but I love Dogfish Head 90 Minute. I miss Stone's Ruination; that was another well-balanced one, too.

Of breweries, I'm impressed by almost everything Founders and Sierra Nevada do. Their quality control is outstanding.

For those of you in Cleveland, is Saucy Brew Works any good? Apparently they're opening a location in Charlotte.
I haven’t had a ton of their stuff, but their Habituale Kolsch is pretty good. Their pizza is good and they do a nice job building out interesting spaces. It’s a fun atmosphere.

Finally made it back to Noble Beast over the weekend and came away so impressed. I love the more simplistic European style ales and lagers and NB knocks these out of the park. Their food is top notch as well.

I have been wanting to go there for a while now. I've suggested it to my girlfriend numerous times before a Tribe game, but it seems it is just a far enough walk from the stadium to be a little inconvenient. We usually settle for Winking Lizard or City Tap instead. Next game I'll just have to say we are going and stick with it.

Honestly, we just park there for free (or 3 bucks) and walk back and forth to the game.

You can hit Masthead on the way too.

I am 100% taking this into consideration for our next game. Thanks for the heads up!
If you park in the lot, I never got that "text to park" thing to work. Just pay at the stall. It's on the south side of the lot. Pretty sure it's like 3 bucks for the day.

Took me forever to find it. Mouth feel isn't as smooth and full as it usually is, but I also generally store them for years. Tasty. Very rich. But something is missing

7/10.

Buy if you like stouts but it's not magical like the 16/17/18s were

I’ve been drinking quite a few of the NA beers that Athletic is putting out and they have all been good, I really enjoyed their Oktoberfest.

I moved to Charlotte last year and the craft beer scene is a giant step up from Birmingham. Burial and resident culture are my 2 favorites and I think burial ships to some states if you ever see it, worth trying

If you're ever in the Rock Hill area, I recall Legal Remedy being fairly excellent including food.

I love the Phoenix scene, apparently there are over 75 breweries in the Phoenix area, i dont live in the middle of a high concentration in the north valley, but i can think of 8 within 5 miles of my house

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve been meaning to check out a liquor shop in SC and will check this out on the trip
You're welcome. I have spent a lot time in that area for work and find Rock Hill a charming "sleepy" bedroom community. Pretty good beer scene in that area all around and I currently live in the Portland OR metro area.

In case you are unaware and like hot sauce, the birthplace of the Carolina Reaper is right next door in Fort Mill... The Reaper Beef Jerky is excellent and will get ya three times... Great spot for a "gift" and the name is great too.

Burial is great, they also have a place here in Raleigh, they always have interesting IPAs.
