Bosh tells Colangelo he won't resign

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not that it means much, but this was Chad Ford's take on the subject in his chat today:

Joe (cleveland): What would Toronto demand for Bosh at this point? Do the Cavs have the pieces?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:13 PM ET ) At this point, meaning by the trade deadline? I think Colangelo would need to get a young potential superstar back. He can't give Bosh away. This summer, if things look like re-signing Bosh in 2010 isn't going to happen, it could be much less. That's why I think there's an arguement that you trade him now. A team in contender mode might be willing to give up more to have him for two title runs. As for Cleveland, they don't have the pieces to make a deal. But I wonder if a Miami deal that sent Michael Beasley, Shawn Marion's expiring contract and perhaps a future first or Daequan Cook might do it? If I was Pat Riley I'd jump all over that. A Bosh, Wade connection would be awesome.

This is in part why I've consistently said that if there isn't a significant upgrade (VC, Camby, etc.) available at this deadline I'd like to see the Cavs off Wally's expiring for a contract like Kenny Thomas's and a couple future picks. Maybe to MEM for Jaric or Milicic and a couple picks.

This would be the type of trade that shouldn't hurt team chemistry all that much while giving us extra assets to use on a superstar when that opportunity presents itself.

This is part of a Blog by Steven A. Smith explaining the whole Chris Bosh thing.

Stephen A. Smith of ESPN created a big controversy on Sunday by indicating that Chris Bosh has told the Raptors that he will depart the club via free agency in 2010.

The claims were denied by Bosh and general manager Bryan Colangelo.

"In case anyone didn't comprehend what I reported first on ESPNews Sunday morning, then SportsCenter Monday night, let me be clear: My sources tell me Chris Bosh wants out of Toronto," writes Smith. "Preferably before 2010, when he's free to opt out of his contract. They've also informed me Bosh has quietly made the Raptors aware of this, that he wouldn't mind interest from Miami or Dallas, at all, and that he's hopeful his days as a Raptor will come to an end sooner than when the LeBron James' Sweepstakes hits the fan in 2010.

"Essentially, these things qualify as one of the worse-kept secrets in the NBA.

"Both Bosh and Raptors' President, Bryan Colangelo have emphatically denied Bosh has made the Raptors aware of anything. Feel free to believe them if you want to. And while you're at it, feel free to to conveniently forget that Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter all echoed similar sentiments before they skipped town, too."

I believe Stephen A.

If he's traded, I see Miami getting him.

I believe Stephen A.

I don't believe him for a second.. After reading his blog, it seems apparent that he made the whole thing up. Then he tried to duck reporters and posts some nonsense rebuttal on his rarely used website.

It's pretty obvious that Smith is suggesting that his readers jump to the same conclusion he did before he opened his mouth and started exaggerating/instigating a bad situation in Toronto. He points out that it's fairly obvious that Bosh isn't happy in Toronto. He also points out that it's no secret that Bosh's contract is up in 2010 (as is LBJ's, which he often says WILL be a Knick in 2010). So Smith does what he always does, promulgate hype live on ESPN, or as he would say "disseminate to the masses," by connecting-the-dots so to speak, by reporting his "sources" have informed him that Bosh may be traded before the deadline. (Which he had absolutely no concrete evidence whatsoever to make such an assumption).

What he never states in his blog is the source of the rumor, the nature of the information received (is it first hand, second hand, hearsay, who said what), or any form of definite verification other than, if Bosh is traded before 2010 (which is probably a certainty imo) then he must be right. In that sense, Smith is telling the truth, Bosh probably has stated to someone that he may not renew his contract. However, for a journalist (even a sports journalist) to report scoops on multimillion dollar sports organizations when he has ZERO sources to prove his allegation is dishonest and unethical. At the very least, some inquiry should be made as to how S.A.S. obtained such information, from who, and when. Otherwise, he should be fired.

p.s.
Knowing that there are still people who believe journalists should have some shred of ethics, he closes his blog with empty threats against anyone who pursues the matter further. Who the fvck does this guy think he is?

W&G,with all these minor rumors going around here relating to the cavs and from what you have been posting, does ferry have any interest in trading for a another guard??

i wish not to be honest(even though i may like to have vc),b/c it may just screw up our back-court...mo and west is good enough for me and boobie off the bench(even though he sucks a lot) is good especially since sasha has been stepping up IMO....west has been playing great offensively and has been doing very good defensively on bigger guards so why mess that up....also they're all still young....and we still have sasha and kinsey who has been both playing GOOD...with ferry signing another guard,i get the impression we have no interest in trading for another guard which im cool with...IMO its a big for wally or nothing for ferry which im fine with, just hope "nothing for wally"=not a good chance:chuckles:???

sorry if im asking too much questions W&G,but its near the deadline and im pump as well as many fans

I like how Smith uses the HOMETOWN WOULD BE A DREAM FOR BOSH but hometown isnt good enough for LBJ LMAO this guy is a JOKE!!!

The thing about this is that he can say this now and probably be right in the future with the way things are going... It's not really going out on a limb or anything...

Bosh is hurt but he walked off on his own.

Stephen A is a joke. Like was mentioned by W&G earlier what he's saying now is not what he was saying originally. More credible sources are saying no conversation just took place between Bosh and Colangelo where Bosh said he wanted out now. This is what this fool reported. Any somewhat knowledgeable fan knows that Bosh was very likely to leave Toronto as a FA and there was a solid chance he could get moved before 2010. This isn't some big time breaking story by Smith.

I'd be surprised if Bosh got moved by the deadline. The offseason is probably more likely. Love to get him on the Cavs but I'm still not sure we have the pieces. There are a lot of other factors that come into play including if Bosh and his representatives want to force the issue and where he could go. Hopefully he wants to play with Lebron.

Okay maybe "the" or "that" conversation did not take place but that doesn't change the situation in Toronto or the reality that Bosh is not going to resign with the Raptors. Let's say he signs with the Knicks in 2010. All of a sudden they are a playoff team assuming they resign Lee this summer. So why would he stay in Toronto??? and please don't suggest for the money. he will be getting $60-125 million or so depending on length of contract.

Bosh just sprained his knee, I think he will be fine.

I despise Screamin A as much as the next guy, but he makes a decent point (regarding all the other players who wanted out). However, this could all be tongue and cheek. If so, **** him
