Boston Tragedy: 1 Suspect Dead, 1 in Custody.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Unprecedented circumstances. Post 9/11 terrorism attack, where over the past 12 years we have upgraded ever form of protection and protocols. Plus, this was a terrorist on the loose domestically, who had committed terrorism, something that has never happened on US soil after 9/11. They didn't know how armed this individual was, but they knew what he was capable of and the citizens should just comply. They were doing their jobs, and every citizen involved should realize how necessary all of it is. In order to keep the public safe, sometimes they need to be treated a little more harshly so all the tracks are covered.

With upgraded forms of protection and protocols--do you mean taking over our personal freedoms?

What personal freedom was taken away? They're searching for a fucking lunatic that could harm more civilians. Maybe you would appreciate these people trying to protect YOU if they came to your house trying to do their jobs while a terrorist was in YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD.....

If i am aware there is a suspected terrorist in my apartment--ill let the proper authorities know.

Other than that--you are not coming in without a warrant.

Unlawful police entry without a warrant or due cause. The 4th amendment to the Constitution of illegal search and seizure. Unfortunately the Indiana Supreme Court ruled in 2011 that the public can not fight a law enforcement officer illegally entering their house, they would have to fight it in court after the fact.

Maybe if they weren't busy arguing with private citizens about illegally entering private property, the police would have realized they skipped a whole block, where the suspect happened to be.

Nailed it.

Like i said, it was an unprecedented circumstance. I may not be correct, but i think something was passed recently about things police can and cannot do when a terrorist was on the loose. Not sure. I have no problem with what they did if i was in direct danger, and i'm sure if you asked those people, they'd say the same thing.

So i have a hypothetical question. You're the guy shooting the video, and they're not doing house sweeps, however that house across the street is harboring the terrorist secretly. Oh and when the police turn away for a second, because it's impossible to cover the entirely large area, the terrorist leaves that house and comes into yours and murders your family. How do you react, thinking that it could have been stopped by what you saw above?

They're in the process of PROTECTING you and others you care about, you should be grateful, not salty because they did not follow a document from 300 years ago.

Some of you don't read shit before spewing. So stupid. People are voluntarily tweeting that they were asked before SWAT came in and that just doesn't get past the self-serving bias thickness.

Seriously, people who take a situation that has bred a ton of patriotism and spin it into a governmental conspiracy or a bunch of "oh, ya, surrrree" is what is wrong with this country. When you've finally had enough of the "oppression" from the government and decide to kill some random "sheep", I'll let swat come into my house to collect you and your shit filled pants.

/Rant

Knock, knock. Who's there? SWAT team. No, we're good, thanks-no terrorists here. Okay, see you later, call us if you see him.

Don't you think most people in that situation are presumably coerced into letting the SWAT team into their private property? The police didn't have any intelligence that the suspect was in an individual house, just that they could be in a multi-block radius.

Why would i let him in the house?

THIS is how freedoms are taken away. You come up with hypotheticals about why i should comply with everything i am told and not question it.

Wow--that 300 year-old document you speak of, is what has let us keep our freedoms.

OH i don't know he could have guns that blow open your fucking door?

Stop holding on to a 300 year old document like it's a fucking bible scripture. It's open to interpretation, and normal guys wrote it. Times change.

It isn't unprecedented. There are murderers on the loose all the time. It just happened to be thousands of law enforcement actively looking for one person. If I had a family, I would have a gun to protect my family and my property.

In your scenario, as what happened in real life, they aren't moving from place to place every five minutes. He was hiding out there for hours. While hundreds of cops were within a few blocks. How did the police being there protect that family whose boat he hid in, when he wasn't there before? The owner of the house noticed something was different and then called the cops.

I'm not saying based on principle I wouldn't let them into my house. Without them having specific evidence the perp was or could be in the house, that they do not have a right to enter my property without a warrant.

This here is scary as hell...

"Please don't try to catch an extremely dangerous terrorist that may be in my cozy neighborhood if you're not following a 300 year old document that i still swear by."

Sound like a lunatic.

Who gets to decide the interpretations? We have the rule of law for a reason, not based on what is popular or how someone feels based on temporary emotions. There is a procedure to add an amendment to change or appeal a prior amendment, it has happened before. Ever hear of prohibition and the 18th and 21st amendments? Whatever you are paying for that college education, it is too much. Might as well have bought beer and weed with the money.

And it doesn't matter if he has a gun, baseball bat or his fist. I'm not playing kung-fu in the front yard with him. He would be shot before the door was open or when I heard a window break.

"Maybe" the suspected terrorist is hiding in the closet with a knife at your daughters throat. "Maybe" the Police see that you are acting a bit unusual and figure out something is wrong. "Maybe" just maybe those oh so horrible police that are infringing on your rights might save you and your daughters life. But wait..............the Gestopo...er police don't want to infringe upon your constitutional rights, so they better just move along. I'm sure you can handle this yourself.

When did this turn into a Jason movie?

What it comes down to is-- it is MY Constitutional right to make that decision for myself.
