Browns 2018 Season Reboot Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thoughts after the regular season's conclusion:

1. Baker Mayfield made so many awesome throws against the Ravens. He made multiple throws where there was only **one** place to put the ball for a chance at a completion. And he put it precisely in those spots. That's the kind of accuracy required to pass for 300+ against the #1 defense in the league. His first two INTs were not good passes. His last INT... was just a great play by the defender. Wish he could have that final pass attempt to Landry back. Oh well, at least the Steelers got fucked.

2. David Njoku keeps getting better. Baker trusts him. That jump ball was a "you're covered, but your taller than the other guy... so I'll throw it". Njoku's non-TD was a sick catch. I think it was a TD as the ball didn't move after he secured it, even if it scraped the ground. He also consistently, used his size to his advantage while separating easily from LBs sent to cover him, and then catch him post-reception. He really did get better each and every game this season. His potential seems to actually be panning out, which is... weird... for one of our draftees. I like Fells and Njoku as our TEs. Devalve looks like he should be good, but hasn't really done anything.

3. Perriman - a nice find. Perfect example of the combo of a good QB and a specific role making him better. Speaks highly of Dorsey for getting him and Kitchens for designing a role for him into the offense. Of course... Baker makes his job a bit easier with great pass after great pass. But nice to see Perriman finishing with the ball in his hands. Getting that TD in Baltimore must have been sweet.

4. Ogunjobi - great awareness. Always fun to watch a guy with talent and brains make key plays. He seemed to show up in key plays all season. With one arm, no less. Great awareness to go right after the ball on Jackson's dive.

5. Credit to Williams (Father and/or Son) who made the adjustment to slow down the Ravens option offense. Wish it had happened sooner, but it happened in-game and happened in time to give the offense a chance to win.

6. No credit to Williams for not challenging that one spot that would have forced a 4th and short for the Ravens. Also, no credit for not only NOT challenging the Njoku endzone-maybe-catch, but bungling his timeout usage in that same period of time. Also, no credit for the first half D, which was atrocious, and let Lamar Jackson do whatever he wanted with his legs and hand-offs.

6. Speaking of, I came away unimpressed with Lamar Jackson. Not because he wasn't effective - clearly he was - but because running an option offense is simply not sustainable, and when he did pass, his passes were... less than stellar. I do think he has the talent to become a much better passer, but he didn't show any of that this game.

7. The Ravens offense really was exactly what the Broncos ran successfully (... for a time...) with Tim Tebow. Read-Option with WRs / TEs running deep ins across the middle... and basically nothing else. The whole thing is powered by the Ravens great interior running... and the Browns solved that late in the 4th Quarter. Funny enough, I could easily see the Browns not only ruining the Steelers season by losing to the Ravens, but ruining the Ravens season by giving the Chargers the blueprint for stopping that interior option run game.

8. So bummed that the season is over. Watching the Williams-Kitchens-Mayfield Browns was a ton of fun. Oh well, I'll just... enjoy... the Cavs... ..... .

I'm feeling good about things today. The future is bright.
Watching several sports shows today including Cowterd. Him and that bitch sidekick Joy Nobody were a little down and out about all the Browns buzz as they're both Cleveland haters. Her cus she's from pitifulburg and they all got that cockiness and like to say how they don't take us as a serious rival. Cowterd keeps bringing on guests and asking them whats the best HC gig opening up and everyone's saying its the Browns. The cunt suggesting the Jets job is better. Screw them both.
Things are changing for us, next year will be fun too.

Keep listening, that’ll show em.

Come here and get your revenge Antonio. I promise you won’t be under appreciated. Plus aren’t he and callaway friends?

About Njoku, fully agree. Just based on the eye test it seems like he's become a good blocker, he's starting to move people in the run game. He showed great RAC ability running around/past the linebacker on that one short catch, and of course he's a jump ball monster. Really hope he continues to work hard this off-season and he could come back as one of the best TEs in the league.

And I think you're selling Perriman a bit short. The guy was a disaster in Baltimore and lost all confidence in catching the ball, but he remade himself and put in the work. That terrific sideline catch is one that the Perriman of a few years ago has no chance at hanging on to. I'm really hopeful that he (and Calloway) can grow into bigger roles.

Theoretically, who's more to get AB or OBJ?
AB, given his age, would be significantly cheaper.

Hell, with these outbursts, I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s simply cut.

Steelers arent going to trade you AB guys.

He’d need to be cut.
And—although once unthinkable—there’s a chance that happens.

He and Ben haven’t gotten along for well over a year now, and it’s no longer innocent enough when the player is skipping practices dude to hatred of his QB and not playing in essentially a playoff game for the team.

He’s also going to be 31 heading into next season, which may be a time that he starts to decline.

With his $22 million cap hit next season, this might be the time to part ways.

They’d have to cut him post 6/1 and it would lead to about $15 million in cap savings.

Reported on NFL network that AB left the stadium after he left the game with a knee injury. Pass.

Cleveland Browns

Home: Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Bills, Dolphins, Rams, Seahawks, Titans

Away: Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Jets, Patriots, 49ers, Cardinals, Broncos

11-5 next year. Calling my shot now.

This may not be as easy schedule as it looks honestly. The Division will be weak next season, Steelers are kind of at the end of their run, Bengals won’t be strong, Ravens have to retool with Lamar, so it’s easily winnable.

I have a hunch teams like the Bills and Jets will improve a fair amount. I am thinking 9 or 10 wins at the moment, but who knows what Dorsey comes up with as well to help improve this team.
