Browns hire Andrew Berry

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Translation:

I’ll continue to draft poorly with limited impactful players and we will continue to underperform based on expectations.

See you next season.

Thing is this guy is going to draft or acquire players to cater to a system by a head coach that doesn’t cater to our franchise QB’s strengths…

It’s comical…

Isn’t it a bit early to say we didn’t cater to his strengths? He hasn’t played in almost two years. Had 7-8 weeks he wasn’t ever allowed at the facility. Then had some weeks of practice still splitting reps w Brissett until he was eligible to play again. Comes back at the end of the year, when the weather is bad. Yeahs it’s excuses but they aren’t insignificant factors.

Just think it’s a little too early to judge the perceived fit between Stefanski and Watson. The 11 game suspension for a new player with no prior collaboration was a crazy dynamic that Stefanski had thrust on him.

I think we have to wait until next year before making ANY bold claims on how they fit and how Stefanski does or doesn’t play design and play call to Watson’s strengths.

You’re still my favorite though Pip for the fine work you do in the Guardians section and the legacy overall

Why thank you !!

I just think it’s a bit naive to think because Stefanski had decent success with Cousins, Baker (to a degree) and Brissett that he will automatically have success with Watson, since he’s an upgrade over them talent wise.

I believe their skillset actually bodes better for Stefanski and his play calling over someone like Watson and his skillset…

You may well be proven correct in time, I just don’t think we can read too much(some but nothing definitive) about their fit and Stefanski’s ability to maximize him/the offense as a whole with him at QB based on these six games that came after extremely unique and limiting circumstances.

I do believe however that next season after 17 games(hopefully more) there will be more than enough evidence and context to answer this critical question.

“How it’s talked about, you know, in this market.”

LOL
Berry had a few good subtle, subtweet type zingers for the local press. And sure, some will say you don’t get to do that until you’re winning again I’d argue it justified as the only thing worse than the actual Cleveland Browns over the last decade or more is the mainstream Browns Beat writers.

The Texans with Watson as a star QB were still a treadmill team and never a real contender.
Earlier in his career before he started playing like a top 5 qb yes. Could be a different situation here . Time will tell.
