Browns intend to sign CB T.J Carrie

Given them being all over the map, it's hard to discount any position at 4 among the top guys.

Except running back, probably.

And hopefully QB as that should be their first pick no matter what.

With 5 picks where you should get starter quality players, QB, RB, OL are needed. DL, CB, and WR would be nice. For an 0-16 team, we won't be required to force a draft pick. Interesting off season to be sure.

He is front loading allot of these contracts. The 10 mill is due at signing it says, so its a bonus. You can take that year 1 against cap and not pro-rate it.

I think Dorsey's when he said he is using all the cap money is to take all the signing bonuses against the cap year 1, front load, and leave a ton of space for the future too.

Its what we should have been doing with cap space all along the last 2 years.

And what cap hell is KC in? They let go of a few aging vets and find room to sign 2 major and younger free agents and maintain being a playoff tem.

We spent 16 million on a 2nd round pick last year that everyone thinks is brilliant, but Dorsey spends an extra 40 million or so in signing bonus in year one to get some depth in Cleveland and he is an idiot?
That $16 million was in a year when we had $100 million in cap room and we had to reach the floor. And we got a 2nd for it anyway. I'm fine with spending. I'm not fine with overspending for marginal players.

I'm seeing a lot of deals that are pretty high for depth players--even poor ones.

I'm all for front-loading, but even still, that average yearly salary is way too freaking high. These overpays add up.

We really didnt have to hit the floor, its a 4 year rolling average, but that isnt important, its not our money.

The contracts only add up in year one, after that they become reasonable deals or cut if they dont preform.

Malcolm Butler at 28 just got 5 years 61 million.

Trumaine Johnson just got 5 years 72 million.

Most places I looked had TJ Carrie as a top 10 free agent corner. Its an expensive position and this is a good signing. I like this better than most of the signings actually.

That's a lot of money for a depth guy/fringe starter. I'm not saying he's bad. These numbers just all seem high on the signings today and yesterday.

I get overpaying because we're Cleveland--but some of these are more than what I expected.

He isnt a fringe guy, he is the top rated free agent we have signed. He was a very good corner last year.

He is a fringe #1 corner, but he is not a fringe starter.

NFL contracts are mostly non-guaranteed.

Everyone is hating our moves, but honestly we are at least doing something to improve the team overall. I mean at the end of the day, just with more experience with players and bringing in more talent, we are already better as a team.

I figure we aren’t gonna be done just yet, we will look to bring in a veteran WR and S in free agency at some point. Don’t know if they will make the team but it’s likely we make the moves

Who is everyone? All I've seen is praise for the Browns offseason so far. We've been nailing it and a good draft will solidify a fantastic, hopefully franchise changing offseason.
