Browns trade for Patriots' Jamie Collins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Read someone say that even if we don't re-sign him then we will likely get a compensatory 3rd? So we traded nothing for him?

I don't think he will have much of an option - if Pryor is serious about re-signing, they will just tag Jamie Collins, you'd think.

Even with that said, he was upset with how the Patriots undervalued him... now he is the key to the defense and the Browns can offer him an assload of money.

If all fails, they'll probably get a 3rd round compensatory back for losing him... so it's a wash.

What the hell is going on in Cleveland?

God loves us?

If they resign him, I love this move, LB is a huge need for this team. Using draft ammo to acquire premier players in their prime? Folks, I said it in the tank thread but the Browns may be onto something here.
This is exactly what I do in Madden so I can tell you from experience it works.

The draft is such a crapshoot. Give me a pro bowler with one of our million 2nd day picks.

Like it....

With both the Pryor and Collins deals, the Browns have the ability to massively frontload their contracts so that they utilize the massive(somewhere between 75-100 million) 2017 adjusted Cap Number they will have and have much more manageable cap numbers in the later years of their deals.

This trade makes all the sense in the world for us, I just can't believe we actually did it (or moreso, I can't believe the Pats did it). Crazy to think that we dealt for an All-Pro LB who just turned 27 and only gave up a late 3rd.

Wonder what he did to piss Bill off... couldn't just be the contract negotiation...

I mean, it could definitely be that he wasn't willing to get to the number the Patriots were willing to offer, and so they traded him to a team that was willing to give him that number. In fact, I'd wager that it was exactly that simple.

Color me beyond shocked. I know experts will try to spin this as a praise to Belichick, but he's also made some bad trades. Got rid of Chandler Jones for Cooper (has been cut) and a second round draft pick that's already struggling.

And now, he views Hightower and Butler above Collins? I don't get it. At all. He's easily the best of the three IMO. Wow, did we make out well.
