Re: Rooting for our team this year

Thread of the year. Literally got it up before 2012

Re: Rooting for our team this year

I'll admit, it was nice seeing Kyrie drive for the win himself, rather than dishing it to a backup PF on the wing like someone else.

Re: Rooting for our team this year

I have no problem rooting for the team in any year. I won't never give up on them no matter how pathetic or great they look. I'm not a fan as long term as some of these guys on here (Wine and Gold takes the cake), but seeing the team in action year after year shows how hard working they can be to earn a place in history as well as me as a hard working fan of the team, suffering like the rest of you would.

I mean, we have some bright spots underneath the grim light.

  • The rookies:
    • Kyrie gives me that sense that he's going to make a big impact for us. He's good. And he's fearless. I mean, sure, you can't just win with only a point guard, but guys like Jason Kidd and Steve Nash are invaluable. They run the team. Give that team defense and the right place at the right time moment like we had in 2007 and you're set.
    • Tristan is awesome so far. No, he doesn't have much offense. But he's great defensively and already knows how to get the whistles at the right time and block with intensity. We really need to give him more looks because it's unlikely he'll fumble and he'll smash it or pick up fouls. He'll be an excellent replacement for Andy, now just get him in with Kyrie soon and away from Sessions.
  • Promising young guys:
    • Samuels is short but a bull. Not sure how that translates, but he may have a future if he learns to condition better and not be a black hole. But we need a large man in the middle to take pressure off TT and Sam Sam. It doesn't need to be offensive guy, but it would help. Just somebody who can force the middle to clog for our opponents.
    • Gee isn't a starter, but an energy and hustle guy. Can shoot somewhat. We should see what we have in him before more judgment can be passed.
  • Huh?
    • I'm a little worried about Casspri but I won't give up on him. If he can at least show some of what he did in the preseason, I'll be somewhat satisfied. He can be inconsistent for all I care, as long as he can get himself back on track a little. He is a capable defender, I know that.
    • Does Andy get moved this season or not. Depends on his health. Personally, it would be nice for him to stay healthy so 1) He might bring in the goods or 2) He continues to positively influence the others. Either way, we'll see. But I can't not root for him. Stay out there Andy!
    • Anthony is a decent signing in that he's a true vet. It's good to get that for this season for the transition to the next. But how long can he play big minutes for? I'm sure it will help us transition for the future.
    • Ramon looks solid, but I'm a little worried about his tendency to shoot and some chinks in his armor. He's not necessarily doing things completely different from last season. Can he run an offense?
    • Boobie looks decent whenever he plays. Just can't play point guard, thank god for Sessions going out there with him.
  • ...
    • Jamison will be an asset because of his expiring, so we can take a bad contract if we wish to get another pick or let it play out and get the money off the table. Or just buy him out when we feel the others deserve more.
    • Eyenga has promise, but he'll need to develop more if he ever wants a chance.
  • No.
    • Hollins. No.
    • Harangody. No.
    • Don't play 'em. We'll be fine without them. I'm rooting for them to actually get through the year without much time. If anything, Hollins gets a little more if we move Andy or Jamison.
  • Draft picks.
    • Yay. We get a nice scoring wing or big. We build. We'll get better. We'll win and lose at the same time. But it won't be blowouts. At least not usually going the other way. Can't wait.
So there's plenty to be excited about. Just be positive instead of being negative all the time. Happy happy, joy joy...

Re: Rooting for our team this year

Yes if you are a fan of a team, you root for them. If you do not you are still you you just probably are not a "fan".

If I want to think about Andre Drummond watch a UCONN game.

If you wonder how to root for them? I can't help you. If that is a pervading thought, I would suggest taking up a hobby like drinking a lot of whiskey.

Not sure what the fuck any of this means but Cleveland fan and drinking lots of whiskey goes hand in hand.

Re: Rooting for our team this year

4 games into the season and we just had our 2nd 16 point win of the season and are a missed layup away from being 3-1. We should be favorites to win again Tuesday night.

Re: Rooting for our team this year

It's going to break alot of hearts on this board, but this team is not as bad as many wanted to give it credit for.

We aren't going to be .500%, but this is not a 15-18 win team the way we have been lead by many to believe around here.

It's worth noting that D-Will has aworse supporting cast in NJ than Kyrie has here.

We haven't played... anybody....

We've played 3 garbage teams (got beat by one of them) and an above average Indiana team (lost to them).

The Nets are beyond horrible. They're only more talented than us because they have a guy better than anyone we have by a country mile. That's it. Otherwise, their roster is just as bad.

Once the Cavaliers start playing some of the real teams in the league, the losses will start piling up. There will be some close ones and exciting wins sprinkled in, but let's be real.

We should rename this thread to Realcavsfans

we should have beat indy. And look at the schedule. After our initial 10 easier games, We have a 14 game stretch where we play play 10 top teams, then just have 12 top teams the last 42 games of the season - a number that drops to 10 if Howard gets traded. We also have a 9 game home stand in feb, right ahead of the trade deadline.

25 wins tops. Absolute tops.

More likely 18-20.

Re: Rooting for our team this year

I wasn't disappointed they won. I was disappointed at the realization that New Jersey and Detroit are far and away worse than us.

Its not that I want the team to lose... I just want the opposing team to outalent us. That can't happen if this team has more talent, which at the moment, isn't a lot.

NJ will have Howard in February, don't worry. But yes, there are worse teams than us, namely Detoilet. They will have a worse record than us unfortunately.

I'm not so sure he likes what he sees in NJ at the moment.
