"Call of Duty" killer? We'll see come Fall, 2010...

Medal of Honor is coming out with a modern warfare-esque game in the fall of 2010. Judging by the trailer, it looks like it could have some potential. Since Call of Duty/Modern Warfare is such a popular series/franchise, what would you all think of a game that brings similar elements to our current-gen consoles and challenges said franchise? Would you welcome the competition? What do you think of the teaser trailer? Thoughts? Complaints? Fire away...

All I know is ... is that previous generation Medal of Honor games were no match for their COD counterparts.

Oh, and Airborne was fucking awful. MoH series needs a refresh.

From what I've heard and read, a lot of the ideas that made COD: MW so special were actually taken from the Medal of Honor series (even though the devs for MoH didn't utilize them so well), so naturally, these guys should have an advantage when making this new game.

My jaw fucking dropped after watching this trailer. So many great games coming out this year. This one will be a "must-purchase" on day one of release.:chuckles:

Also, check out the Wikipedia write-up (although, I posted almost all that is there below). Two of the key notes from the page that really got me excited were:

"There will be one seamless single player campaign. The player will play as multiple characters that each partake in diverse and unique experiences from both the “Tier 1” and “Big Military” perspectives. The storyline will follow several "Tier One Operator" soldiers working under the National Command Authority in Afghanistan. Players will also step into the shoes of the standard issue military and will be on a larger scale than the "Tier one elite ops" campaign, as players will only be a small part of the 'war machine'."

"The emphasis will be on realism, with EA going as far to bring in consultants from the United States military. It is expected to include the kinds of objectives and tasks issued in real life such as raiding terrorist hideouts, hostage rescues and undercover operations."

Shoot, man, I imagine not until sometime around August/September/October. It's not supposed to be released until "fall", so your guess is as good as mine. Demo's usually drop about 2-4 weeks in advance for the PS3, so we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled for any new info.

Also, to tide you over, the PS3 has a lot of great games coming out soon. Just to name a few: Heavy Rain, Dante's Inferno, Bioshock 2, God of War III, MLB '10: The Show.

It is definelty a very good time to be a PS3 owner right about now.

As for the CoD killer, do you know how many MMORPGS I've seen touted as the WoW killer? 7, and that's just in the past 2 years. You can't beat the greatest. That's how shit works. MoH promises to be absolute shit gameplay, just like every other one so far.

Actually, 3 of the 5 games that I mentioned will be exclusives to the PS3 (Heavy Rain, GOW III, and MLB '10). 2 out of those 3 (and some would argue, 3 out of the 3) games that I mentioned have non-PS3 owners considering buying the Sony console for the sole purpose of playing one of those exclusive games specifically (In their respected order, GOW III, MLB '10, then Heavy Rain). But let's not turn this into a "console war" debate, now.

I had never heard of Heavy Rain, so I apologize. I forgot that "the show" was a Sony exclusive, as the rest of their pro sports series have been absolute failures. Don't even get me started on "the life."

GOW3 is great and all, but I've seen too many hack/slash games to be impressed. Hell, I honestly think Bayonetta and Darksiders will come out as better rated games than GOW3.
