Carmelo Anthony

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Would you like Melo on this team if you didn't have to trade Love?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Depends on who we have to trade (really?)

Every time I think about Melo and playing like he does on the international level, I wish he comes to the Cavs somehow and plays that way

He's been right about a few things. Who knows what his "sources" are. But it's a safari and I gotta admit I got a little excited when I read it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the cavs get Brandon Jennings.

Hey guys, I follow along RCF daily but never post anything. And I know Incarcerated Bob doesn't have a great rep on the boards but he's been correct on a few things.

Anyways, he's tweeting that the Knicks/Cavs/Mavericks are in trade talks and the cavs and Mavs are ready to pull the trigger. Knicks are holding up the deal he says as of now.

We getting the best Curry yo?

To be fair, IBOB is citing Tommy Dee as the source for this rumor.

I don't know anything about Tommy Dee. Knicks blogger I think.

So maybe it could have a tad bit more to it? Because if it is only IBOB, it is pure crap.

Seriously though, if Griff manages to get Melo without giving away Love or TT, I am personally going to Cleveland to sculpt a Griffin statue with massive fucking balls.

He's been a right about a few things out of thousands because in addition to inventing all sorts of illegitimate trade rumors he also puts his own spin on every single other big rumor that ever sees the light of day.

Can't think of a time where he truly ever "scooped" a rumor

Now as far as Jennings, I'm partially open to that but pretty sure Shump would need to be moved for that to work in the locker room

Without Matthews or Barnes going to NYK, I have no idea how the Mavs would fit into a 3-way. Nothing else they have would work for NYK, IMO.

Honestly, a Cavs/Knicks/Mavs trade can make a ton of sense. Just playing around in the trade machine, this works:

Cavs get:
-Carmelo
-Kyle O'Quinn for Varejao TPE
-Devin Harris or JJ Barea for Dunleavy TPE

Knicks get:
-Bogut (expiring)
-Deron Williams (expiring)
-Jordan McRae (expiring)
-Picks and/or Cedi

Mavs get:
-Iman Shumpert
-Channing Frye
-DeAndre Liggins
-Kay Felder (had to add him in to make the trade work)

This is just in the trade machine which doesn't have draft picks or Cedi Osman. I'm sure picks or Cedi could be added in for the Knicks and we could keep Felder.

The Cavs replace Shump/Frye/Liggins/McRae/Felder with Melo/O'Quinn/Harris + a couple buyout players.

The Knicks salary dump Melo but have to give up O'Quinn to do it, but get picks/Cedi from Cavs/Mavs.

The Mavs give up two expiring vets in Bogut and D-Will (who can both be bought out by the Knicks...) and another older vet in Harris but get back a 26 year-old Shumpert to back-up or even take over the starting SG spot, Frye to start at C or bolster the bench, a young prospect in Felder, and a defensive-minded bench player who can guard 1-3 in Liggins.

With some touching up here and there on the exact picks that are traded, whether Cedi or Felder are included, etc...isn't this a good trade for all three teams?

I don't see the Mavs giving up picks in this transaction. Whether or not they'd be involved at all depends on if they were bluffing/have any flexibility on that "We'll give you Deron for Shumpert and a pick" offer they proposed before. They don't sound super willing to deal lol.

I also doubt the Knicks would sweeten the deal by adding KOQ if all they're getting is Cedi and a late future pick. Cavs probably wouldn't play hard ball and demand KOQ if the Knicks were willing to take a non-Love deal.
