Cavaliers to Reach out to Amar'e... Safari?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think having Channing Frye and Antawn Jamison on the same team is counterproductive. Their games are too similar to be paying that much money for Antawn.

Probably right. Doubt they'd be interested. Although with Jamison starting next to Lopez that could work. Then Frye pairs with Warrick off the bench.

That's possible. But if you're going to pay $18 million for Warrick, $30 million for Frye, and $30 million for Jamison, why not just give Amare a max deal with all years guaranteed?

Because Nash only has two years left on his deal, same as Jamison. So once that's done you blow it up and go with the young guys.

With all that said, I doubt it happens. But the Cavs worked on a deal with the Suns only a couple months ago. You'd think the framework is still there.

We are basically handcuffed until he re-signs. Can't make any big moves without his commitment.

Yep. Very frustrating.
On one hand, the Cavaliers won't make any big moves until LeBron decides & they can determine the direction of the team. On the other hand, this handcuffs the Cavaliers from being able to put their best foot forward in terms of sign & trades and other free agents, but, most importantly, convincing LeBron to re-sign. It's a vicious cycle 'cause I honestly don't know that LeBron will re-sign without the Cavaliers trading for another star, but the Cavaliers will be hard-pressed to do so, unless it's someone already under contract. I could be wrong, but that doesn't seem to be the direction that they want to go. Seems they're going to wait out LeBron and taken their chance with the roster as is.

In terms of Amare, the Suns appear to be moving on without him, which might eliminate any sign & trade possibilities which would have the Suns taking back any salary. That said, Amare's options may be limited to those teams with cap room, namely NY, Miami, Chicago, NJ.

Stoudemire is not ready to commit, sources said, until he sees how the rest of the free-agent market plays out.

Everybody needs to read and re-read this quote from Woj's article in regards to Amare before everyone starts to freak out..

Amare, just like any of the other major free agents, aren't going to do anything before they see where the main domino's fall (i.e. - LeBron, Wade, etc.)...

So the safari is still on?

I don't know if Amare is worth the max for 6 years. He is lazy many times, a fragile big man with a huge ego problem. He doesn't rebound, play defense and has injury problems.

I mean, I don't mind seeing him on our team but in a couple of years, hopefully we won't have to treat him like Mo Williams, when he doesn't show up in the playoffs with his lazy rebounding and poor defense while he is making the max money.

I really hope we get Bosh!

Eeek, Per Woj:

Knicks and Amar'e Stoudemire are making progress on 5 year, max contract, sources say. Framework of deal in place, talks continuing today.

And that's all for the Knicks.

Amar'e is not enough to entice LeBron to leave. Just think about the Knicks roster:

Douglass
????
LeBron
Amar'e
????

I can't believe anyone would go to the Knicks all alone.

Yea so I remember when Amare wanted to be the main domino.

Amar'e could meet with Bulls
1:29 PM ET
Amare Stoudemire | Suns

According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, "Sources said the Bulls also have contacted ... in a surprise, Amar'e Stoudemire, who could meet with them Tuesday."

The reason it's a surprise? As Johnson has detailed previously, the Bulls have reservations about Stoudemire's knees and defense.

Yet with so much money available, if the Bulls swing and miss on Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James (not to mention Joe Johnson likely being off the table), Stoudemire might be their next best option next to Carlos Boozer and David Lee.

I don't think Amare will be committing today. We still have time to make a pitch.

do the Knicks realize they'll be lucky to get the same 21 and 11 that david lee gave them from amare??? I mean this doesn't make them any better when considering that lee is gone.
